Morning Glories 2011 # 14

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Becky, the Purple SunSmiles I grew last yr and the yr before had the whitest lvs. My Pink one didn't even come close, If I can find a pic, I'll send it.
Debra, I love your Pink Youjiro or no Beni. I noticed my no Beni had 6 bars yr before last so yours may be a
Youjiro, aka Rosita. Its a beauitiful color whatever it is. I started a no Beni this yr but I lost it.
This one I dug up from where the sd had dropped. Its in the same tub as the SunSmiles.
Edited to say I can tell this bloom belongs to the solid green lvs. The varieg lvs belongs to the SunSmiles

Thanks Jackie, Becky and Debra. Love your Lav. Saz Jackie and the others are pretty too.

Becky, I noticed that some hand pollinating didn't take so I didn't continue doing it. A few seems that have taken so I'll keep watching as I tagged them.

Debra, love those bright cool pink colors!! Yours vines are doing great.

I sowed some Ip purpureas last seek in the ground but we need rain again.

Here's DFNM, never get tired of seeing these blooms!

We all love your DFNM Helena, One of my favorites.
I was partial to Debras beautiful pinks too

My Sunrise Serenade not feathered this morning, maybe tomorrow morning.
It made 1 feathered and 1 regular bloom yest but my pic was awful.

OMG Helena, love your Dark Dusky, darkest I've ever seen.

Debra's lovely Xiongs. I want more bright colors next yr. This drove the hummers crazy.

No honeybees here thanks to Monsantos' clothidian so my pandys' were pollinated by
huge bumblebees. I wonder how long before all the bumblebees are gone too?

Google Monsanto and the honeybees

When my Pres Bush looks like this one from 09, then I'll be happy, :-)

Jackie, was your Pres Bush in 09 lav-purple or pink? I'm confused cause mine this year was a pink blizzard. Your 09 picture looks lavender to me so I don't know if the color is off on my puter.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Oooh, Jackie! Love those leaves and the flecked pink bloom! Your P. Bush from 2009 is stunning! I hope you get some of those blooms, too! My Pink Serenade had solid petal and hige petal blooms when I grew one, too.

I had read about Monsanto and the honeybees. Really sad.

Helena - Your DFNM is beautiful! It really caught my eye when I was reading down this thread! The other two are nice as well. Love the deep dark color of the Dark Dusky bloom!

Love them all, Ladies!!! ♥

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Helena, that is more of a lavender color on Pres Bush from 09. I hope my new vine
starts making those blooms. As I recall, that bloom in 09 did not start out like the pic above.
It looked more like the 1st Pres Bush pic I sent at 426 pm
Thanks Becky.
These are the blooms all across my g house floor. I hope it sets seeds soon so I can clean
up down there and pull up all the vines.

What a lovely sight in your greenhouse, Jackie! Seems like the MGs love your yard! Your pandies certainly do, too!!!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Becky.

My 2nd Pres Bush opened today. I like this bloom more than yesterdays.

Pandy opened a new bloom today so I checked and he still has a lot of buds. These will be coming off smaller sideshoots that took longer to bud and bloom. Happy Days. Getting lots of Youjiro blooms too
Debras Xiongs is lovely, looking so red.

Jackie - Your second President Bush looks like a lavender color, too. I really like that color! This year has been the year I am really looking at all the lavender/purple blooms. It's funny, but my preferences change from year to year! LOL!

Your pandy vine is huge!!! Lucky to have one established and thriving where it's roots are planted!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Becky thanks, yes this 2nd Pres Bush is also lavender. I really like the blooms.
Pandy is doing very well where he's planted, getting larger every yr.

My Xiongs open today, 1st bloom in over a week. Look at the squared off sides.

Jackie - Nice deep color on your Xiongs bloom!

Debra - Love your pink Kikyo! I grew that one a couple years ago and the bloom was really pretty! The bloom in the first photo you posted is neat! Dark throat, lighter color bloom! :-) The lighter the color of the bloom, the more they stand out against the foliage of the vines! Onalee's white looks very large! We don't see too many solid white blooms! I am enjoying yours!!! I like your purple sun smiles! Mine never looks that dark. Beautiful! Your tourquoise looking one is lovely! Same colors as your first one which is so pretty! Your species blooms are pretty neat! :-)

Helena - You can post repeats any time! I always enjoy them and never get tired of seeing ANY MG blooms! And you have grown some really nice ones this year! Your Pink Speckled/Flecked is lovely. I always love the tie-dyes! No two are ever alike! Love it! Blue Pearl is a lovely pale blue with that dark purple throat ... such a combo of colors!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Becky, I had so many pale blooms that I really enjoyed Xiongs and Danys Purple Striper
Great blooms Debra. I really like the pink Kikyo and the large white from Onalee. The turquoise and lindeheimer aren't bad either. :-)

Helena, lovely blooms, beautiful white with pink flecks, reminds me of 10-10 and it's gorgeous red looking flecks

Gautier, MS

Thanks Becky and Jackie. How about this guy on my mg vine. No signs of it eating any of it but maybe going into it's next stage. It is huge, I don't know if it's going to be a moth, butterfly or what???

He may start eating your vine or maybe he is crawling around looking for his favorite plant to munch on!

That caterpillar that you have there is from the Sphinx moth family, which are sometimes mistaken for Hummingbirds because their wing motion sounds a little similar as does their quick movement. I love them! They are night blooming pollinators! They will bury themselves in the soil when they are pupating into a chrysalis/cocoon:

http://www.ext.colostate.edu/pubs/insect/05517.html

Best to remove him and place him on some other plant that you don't value as much. They do have a good appetite, but unlikely to destroy a plant. Just chew it up a lot! Move him elsewhere, is what I would do!

Gautier, MS

Thanks Becky for the interesting info. I think I didturbed him by the picture taking b/c he has moved on & is hiding. No damage to the vine and all is well.
