What the heck is this?

Indianapolis, IN

I planted a oriental lilly in the spot, but it looks way different from what they should. It is getting massive and I would hate to be nourishing something invasive in my new flower beds.

It is about 2'+ x 3'+. It has a similar branching structure to a dahlia, but with much more air space. It has 1 - 1 1/2'' wide and 2''+ long leaves that have jagged edges. The leaves green on top with a blackish-purple bottom. There are small white flowers on it that are clustered but each flower has its own stem.

Any thoughts?

I agree it is night shade but not sure which one, we burn this plant as it can be very toxic, wash your hands / skin after handling this plant and make sure all the flower / seed heads are burnt too. such a pity it is such a lovely looking plant, when I do occasionally find it in my garden (seeds dropped by birds) when I dig id out, it has a tiny tuber and both is and the foliage stinks, so you just know you don't want it.
Good luck. Weenel.

Ugggh!, NightShade is so annoying. They grow fast and they produce flowers that point downwards, and then they produce dark or black berries. I am so afraid to have them near my property because I have a dog.

These attractive berries draw kids of all ages to-wards them as they are lovely to look at and are juicy too, which is why I always tell people to wash their hands after handling them, they grow anywhere, rock, fertile, sandy or scrub, they are not fussy where they set down to germinate, the good thing is these plants can be tugged from the soil or a trowel will loosen the roots, Good luck.
