I think maybe it was getting too much sun.. i just moved it to the side of the house.. so that it is getting 4-6 hours of sunlight instead of full sun... please help?? maybe it was also because i watered it in the sun?? oh and this is called a penny mac hydrangea..
What is happening to my hydrangea???
What time of day does it get sun? Morning sun up to noon and late day is fine. The leaves look a little stressed but not bad - they are not wilted. They should come out fine next spring. After a full summer most plants start looking a bit ragged and are starting to get ready for fall.
And if you just moved it it's probably suffering from a little transplant shock
Any plant moved to a new situation in the summer heat will almost collapse with stress, so would we, ha, ha, ha.
Just keep giving it water at the roots (not the foliage), Normally Hydrangea's are as tough as old boot's, so remember it will take a good few weeks / months to recover, I would actually cut back the foliage now to reduce the stress as these plants have a lot of foliage to take up water. keep an eye on it and I am sure next spring you will see new buds forming along the stems for their summer show again. Give it a general plant food around the root area too next spring to help it build up for the season.
Good luck. Weenel.
