Butterfly bush appears dead after 40 days of over 100 (F)

Howdy,
How do I prune my butterfly bush? All of the leaves are crisp and, it is unsightly. IO watered the six ft tall two days a week.

I only hard prune mine in late winter/early spring here in N.Y. I dead head it anytime needed. Like now.
