My girlfriend found a majesty palm in an alley in Chicago by our flat and decided she wanted to rescue it. The palm is in awful condition. Most of the leaves are brown or at least browning. I want to trim it and replant it, but I'm not sure what to trim. I have read about trimming the brown tips (which at this point seems useless since I would be left with only a few leaves), but the shoots are still green. Should I just cut off the leaves or trim the plant down close to the base?
Sorry for not being able to provide a picture. I just moved to Chicago and my digi is back home with the rest of my stuff.
