In case you're facing growing aphid populations on your broccoli or brussels sprouts, I found a product called "Safer" with seaweed extract (I expect it's kelp) that kills them immediately. It's non-toxic and can be reapplied as needed. It think it saved my brussels sprouts this year.
Aphids on broccoli/brussels sprouts anyone? This works.
You can also knock them off with a good, strong blast from the water hose. Once they hit the dirt, they're prey to whatever's down there, and most do NOT make it back up to the container -- they get eaten up!
