what is happening to this cuke?

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

My first time growing a cuke in a container. It has been a good producer but lately the foliage is turning brown. At first I thought it was insufficient water but now, as I notice foliage w/ spots, I suspect something more serious and wonder if it will contaminate the fruit. thanks for your help.

This happens to mine as well. I wonder if this just happens naturally or if it is a disease. I pulled about 6 nice size cukes off of my one plant and then this started happening. Did you already get a nice harvest off of them?

I'm having the same problem with mine and they too are in containers. Lemon cuck it taking the hardest but I still have flowers and it seems to be growing. The others seemed to have hit a brick wall with production and look healthy otherwise. Frustrating I know, but have more fruit than I can eat so I guess it's OK.

It looks like Spider Mite damage. Do you see any webbing? To get rid of them you need to use a miticide not an insecticide. You can also use Neem Oil if your looking for something Organic. Be careful applying anything in this heat, especially an oil based product. I only apply products in the evening so it has dried by the time the sun comes up.

looks like "Bacterial Wilt"... maybe from beetles or another insect,.... if so,.. it will ruin the harvest,... check it out on this site or Google it...

The pic of alternaria was extremely similar to my own pic. I inspected for bugs and nothing. I think alternaria is it.

I had two plants and they produced a good amount for DH & I to enjoy. But last two cukes were funky and deformed so I just yanked the plants. Not willing to spend money on product to treat this problem. Cheaper to just buy another plant when it cools just a bit or wait til next year to get seeds certified to be disease free. (or get another seedling and hope for the best).

I had an infestation of cucumber beetles last year, and my vines looked like that. At the time, I assumed it was caused by the beetles chewing the leaves, and their larvae eating the roots.

I did not sow cucumbers this year and saw very few cucumber beetles - and then only on the bush beans.

My cukes are doing great now,.. but it has been a battle .. I too have been fighting the striped Cucumber beetle,.... (not so much the past two or three weeks,.. but in late June early July I was picking them off by the dozens, morning noon and nite... I also used Spinoasad a few times (in the late evening)...

there are not as many around now,... when my plants show signs of wilt,.. I cut that leaf (s) or portion of plant off,.. this seems to work and prevents the wilt from spreading
