Strawberry blossoms dying

I recently started growing strawberries in a planter. I've had a lot of blossoms but only three have produced fruit. The rest stay very small and turn brown and shrivel. Is this from too much sun or not enough water? The ones that made it produced nice sized fruit, so I'm a little confused.

Is your container big enough to give sufficient room for the roots of all your plants? The plants that are healthy may have developed the best root systems and now there isn't room for the other plants. I've never raised strawberries in a container, only in the ground, so I'm not sure if they will come back next year, however, it sounds like you might not have anything to lose by trying to move the less healthy plants to another container where they will have more room.
