I'm starting to see brown spots on the leaves of a couple of my pumpkin and squash plants. From the pictures I'm seeing online, it looks like Alternaria to me, but I'm not too sure. Can anyone confirm this? How aggressive is it in spreading? I planted all my squash/cucumbers/melons in the same area of my garden and ended up planting them a bit too close together. I'm worried that I'm going to end up losing everything. Should I cut off the leaves with the worst spotting? Aside from Neem, are there any other organic options for treating this?
Thanks,
Eric
Brown spots on pumpkin/squash leaves
I had the same problem last year and the spots spread like crazy and I ended up pulling a lot of plants. I think it had something to do with the humidity here as other gardeners reported the same problem. It happened to my cucumbers mostly. Only word of advice is pull the leaves now and get them out of the garden ... also stay out of the garden when it is wet or in the early morning or evening ... you can spread the icky stuff.
