My college has a few small trees with fruits on them that look like an orange lychee. It has very bumpy skin. They are about the size of a golf ball. When I break one open, the inside is sectioned like an orange but it is very mushy. The color is an electric orange. It has little black seeds, but not very many, about one per section, that look like flax seeds.

The flowers are white and face downward. They're shaped like cups.

The fruit does not seem to have any smell whatsoever.

it could be a calamondin....its kind of hard to tell, but it does sound like a citrus with sections and white flowers and the orange color. it even sounds like persimmon but they have smooth skin... maybee its not edible since there is no fragrance - normally fruits that we eat have a good smell.

I wouldn't expect cornus kousa to survive in Bangkok, but I guess there might be some tropical Cornus variety?

If there's no smell, I can't believe it would be any sort of citrus.

Any chance you could post a few pictures?

Oops... I somehow managed to confuse Andreida with the original poster. Cornus kousa sounds a bit better now, but LA still seems a little tropical for it.
