I'm surprised Jobs lasted in decent shape this long, between pancreatic cancer and a liver transplant...
Money Matters - Part 7
They say he'll still consult. My guess is he'll stay in it as much as possible as long as he can, it's his baby. But it must be he getting harder...
Pam
He'll be right in there with Henry Ford in the history of industry.
Gas station busy last night, pre Irene. I didn't expect that.
Warren Buffet bought big into Bank of America
Lots of people filling up gas containers, trying to fill up before they have an excuse to raise the price
Earthquake was nothing. Irene will cost billions.
It will create jobs for people to rebuild and repair and to produce the materials needed to do the work.
Temporary jobs. It is still a net loss. Local governments do not have the money to pay for all the cleanup, so they will go to the feds. The deficit will increase even more. And there are people who lose jobs too when this happens.
People said the same thing about the earthquake/tsunami in Japan - it would boost their economy. Instead, it tipped them back into recession. And some in this country even blame it for being a factor in our horrible economy.
Market up big - in part because Irene was not worse! Geeze.
Market up big - .
I theorize that part of the ample warnings over Irene was the fact that when people prepare less, gov't has to spend more...and just can't afford it. (Course we can still afford secret special interest carp of all kinds)
Hated to see covered bridges gone- truly irreplaceable. We used to go to Fort Pickens in Florida but the road got taken out by a hurricane (Katrina?) and they don't have the money to put it back. It feels like a new phenomenon, that things get wiped out and are not put back/ fixed back up.
Paying $3.92/ gal regular here, price has been going up real sneaky since Irene was forecast, when it was $3.87.
Gas has increased here too in the last several days, by about 20¢ a gallon... for no real reason that I an see.
3.47cash regular 10¢ more with credit card
3 49, up some just before Irene. But Darius, didn't it drop drasticly (30) for you couple weeks ago? We didn't get that drop.
... I hate when they do that cash/ credit card thing. I avoid those stations like the plague.
Me too! That is one I drove past.
One of the stations I go to changed to that...won't be going there anymore
Received ez pass statement and in the envelope was an ad for directtv...why do they have to have advertsing? the fees and tolls aren't bringing them in enough $ to run the system?
Cash credit...and with or without car wash. I don't know who washes the car more than say 2 X a year...not me!
I guess not Jen! Easy money for the system. You do know they are raising some tolls, well in MD at least its proposed. I like your guv way more than mine.
Sally, yes gas here dropped a bunch a couple of weeks ago... but I just realized it's Race Week (Bristol) and even though we are 35 or so miles north of the speedway, everything like motel rooms, campgrounds and gas always goes up.
..well you know someone now Sally, (lol). I wash my car twice/ monthly and wax it, (2 coats each time) 3x/ year. I treat all the cars I've ever had the same way. #1) I want it looking Gooood! #2) I'm a firm believer that wax protects the car finish from rust & the elements, not to mention the salt and whatever else they put on the road around here during the winter. I just gotta do it! It's like weeding the garden for some people.. (lol!)
- Oh I forgot, I keep the interior immaculate too, keeps me and my 'baby' happy, Wheee☺!
- Everyone is looking to make an extra buck any which way they can Jen, - lousy isn't it.. Too much advertising being thrown at everyone nowadays..
I wash my vehicle once - when it's time to turn in at lease end. I do clean the interior from time to time.
I wash it when it gets dirty...really shows up on the white
With my color, it doesn't show at all.
My car is like my garden- dirty. I mean, no pigsty but no clean freak . Having the dog ride in there has forced me to clean it more. I only pay for wash when its really salty and its too cold to wash myself. I get the cheapest automated wash for 5 or 6 bucks. Dark blue doesn't show summer dirt but shows the salt.
I only pay for a wash when it's too cold to wash it myself, I use Murphy's oil soap, simple and relatively inexpensive compared to all those hyped up 'car soaps'... I do use pricey car wax though, but that's what protects the finish so..
If it gets too cold I make hubby wash it
I use rain.
have not washed a car in over a decade - rain only
You know that cuts down the wind resistance and lowers your mpgs?
Clearance bathing suit
http://www.hearthsong.com/Board-Shorts-by-Hatley_p4010.html
What a bargain!!! NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow that's a lot of $, considering they are for growing kids. In fact that's a lot of $ for an adult too, unless they live in Beverly Hills.. (lol)
Thats NUTS!!!!! (those board shorts)
Lands End must have way overordered on suits, Sears had a big rack of clearance LE ladies suits last week.
Worse than dismal jobs report. Zero jobs created. I bet next month when they adjust the figure it will probably be negative.
And now the gov is suing the same mega banks they bailed out three years ago. Typical.
Was at the supermarket yesterday morning buying some doughnuts to have with my morning coffee. I was 4th in line, when I noticed this clean cut young man about 30ish searching through the newspapers which were for sale just a few feet away. NY times, NewsDay, Post, etc etc.. He looked frustrated, going over and over each one, picking them from the bottom, the side pile, etc. The more he looked the more frustrated he seemed to become.
Finally it was my turn to pay at the isle and afterwards, as I was leaving, I saw him go to the cashier and ask;
"Where are all the coupons in the Newspapers?? I know that XXX, and XXX have coupons every Sunday what's happening here??"
Then I realized the supermarket was removing the coupons from the newspapers so people don't use them, limiting them to the coupons the supermarket provides while in the store, unless they bring them ahead of time from home. - nice...
wow- what a ripoff.
That's nuts. They should be reported.
But I am more impressed that the XXX businesses take coupons. I have been paying full price for years!!!
Whoa - Euro stock markets were down BIG today. Bad omen for tomorrow. Germany was down over 5%.
