Can ornamental peppers safely be eaten like other hot peppers?
Accidently touched my tongue after handleing one of these peppers, its pretty hot lol *
Ornamental Pepper question
Ornamental peppers are edible, but usually don't have a very good flavor once you get past the hot. Also...unless you grew it from seed, it is advised that you wash the pepper thoroughly as most nursery bought ornamentals have been sprayed heavily with insecticides, weed inhibitors and fertilizer because they are not considered a food crop. You can always save seeds and grow your own, assuring their edibility.

They also tend to be really, really hot so in many cases they're probably going to be pretty inedible because of that.
