Yard long beans. These are mine who else plants them?
Yard long beans
Smiling, I didn't see any.
I've never tried them. Is this your first time?
we have grown them the last few years. Last year we had tons of them-we introduced all of our freinds and neighbors to them!! This year we have had a
terrible time with all of our beans-poor germination, poor production-just a really off year for them. We have bush, pole and yard longs and none have been anything to brag about!
My favorite way to fix the yard longs is to pick them before the beans fill out, cut them in pieces several inches long. Saute in olive oil with a little minced garlic for just a few minutes until tender-crisp. Top with a sprinkle of coarse sea salt and a few grinds of fresh, cracked pepper. This is how they serve them at a local Chinese restaurant and they are fabulous! I can the other two types of beans but just use the long beans fresh.
ROTFL at myself. I had a bad time with beans too. When mine started growing I thought, ''what the heck?'' These are flat pods. I was sure I ordered the regular ''tender crisp'' green beans. Later, I realized I had opened the lima bean seed packet and planted those! It's a good thing I have green beans canned from last year.
Your recipe sounds delicious. I didn't know that's what they used in the Chinese restaurants. Yum!
