I'm growing some "Styian Hulless Pumpkin". I've seen it classified as:
Cucurbita pepo var styriaca
Cucurbita pepo
Cucurbita styriaca
Does anyone know which of these may be correct? More importantly, can you tell me if Styrian Hulless will cross with Cucurbita pepo varities?
Thanks a lot.
PS I've read USA gardeners use the terms "squash" and "pumpkin" differently than we do here in Australia. Hope this doesn't casue confusion...
Will Styrian Hulless Pumkpin cross with other pumpkins
Yes, It will cross with any C. pepo which includes Jack O Lantern type pumpkins and most summer squash. Pumpkin in North America simply means a type of winter squash. Shape and color are usually the determining factor for determining which it is called.
