I bought my bouganvillia (full sun) in spring and planted it in the ground. I put a trellis behind it. It blooms but will not grow more than a couple of feet. How do I get it to trail?

I'd give it time--plants will often take a little time to get their roots going before they do a lot of growing. Since you just planted it this spring, it's still in that phase where it's getting itself established.

You are also in the middle of an extreme drought. Plants tend to slow down in excessive heat/drought conditions as a survival technique.Bougs are tough plants...just make sure to give it a good watering when it gets dry and it should as ecrane says get established and take off.
