Oh, that daylily is "Broken Heart" Louise.
A few July RU photos!
love the covered bridges!!!!.. thanks for posting them!!!... too cool
So many great pictures! I'm sorry I missed out on the fun! Karen when you were at Harmon Hill you were literally 5 minutes from my house!
just found this thread - have been sick in bed since Sunday morning with a high temp and vicious headache - home sick again today - have no idea what brought this on - no bug bites to be found as i thought i may have a tick bite from rock hunting saturday.
had a great time and it was good to see everyone and meet a few new dg'rs.
a special thanks to louise and hank for hosting and busting me about my rock craving - this is a picture from the road just below their home. it did put a smile on my face:)
as for folding the chair i left behind - it is one of those mind bender challenges - let hank know i wish him luck:)
Oh man that stinks Bill! Somethings been going around though. Both my girls had fevers the whole first week of summer vacation.
Thanks for the pics, Celeste. That first covered bridge looks like one I took pics of a few years ago, the weekend we went to Candice's RU. Tell Brian to slow down! LOL!
I looked up that DL Broken Heart, and it sure does look like the one Louise has. That's a gorgeous one.
Meredith, I wish I had known that. I might be going up again, maybe in early Aug. We will see. I could stop by for a visit if I do.
Bill, I sure hope you feel better soon. Hope it's not something serious, like a mosquito borne disease (i.e. West Nile, EEE, or whatever else they might carry). If I had a fever this time of year, I'd be seeing my doc.
Karen
Sorry to hear that Bill, hope you feel better soon.
Karen let me know if you go back. I love it there, I haven't been yet because I always end up buying something I don't have anywhere to plant. Then I have to scramble to find a spot since they are freshly dug and have no soil on their roots! l have a bunch of stuff I bought 2 weeks ago in pots still because I buy on impulse and have no idea where to put it!
Wow - looks like you all had a great time, as always. What a fantastic cake! Would have been funny if, inside all that wonderful icing, was compost!
Hope you're okay, Bill. Could be estrogen-related. ^_^ Seriously, hope you're better soon.
Mostly likely Bill got a serious illness caused by the strain of trying to move that lovely stone that was so artfully decorated in his honor. I have had a similar summer bug for the last few days too, but I am better today. Wha, hope you are too soon. But perhaps Brother Vic is right as there was a powerful lot of women at that gathering. Lucky you. Patti
Bill, hope you feel better soon
Great shots, Karen...wondered where you disappeared to for awhile
As for the photos, I need to rethink a more aggressive exercise routine...YIKES, I need to lose some weight
have a doc appointment in the morning just to make sure it is not lymme
Smart idea, Bill. We do have a lot of ticks in the woods here, and it's better not to take any chances with that headache and fever! Hope you get to feeling better very soon!
Victor - only you would think of putting compost in a cake that pretty! One of these years, you DO need to come join in on all the good fun and laughter at these RUs. This is a great group that does not take itself very seriously, even though there are some top notch gardeners with serious interest among us. Some of us are just hangers-on, of course.
Celeste - I'm so glad you got such a good close-up of the cake. Mine were all from a distance and I wanted to show it off to some people. Look at that cute trowel on top of the cake. Just awesome, and wait until Karen gets an even-worse shot of me after eating the NEXT layer! LOL!!
Ha ha - I really wish I were there. I have never taken myself seriously and don't plan to ever start. Also, I could have beaten Bill in a race - quite handily, I might add. ^_^
That's precisely why you need to come join in the fun Victor! Your sense of humor would keep us laughing!!
Meredith, I have the same problem as you, impulse buying. Not as bad as it was, but still... I have not planted the DL's from Harmon Hill yet, but they are in water. Will get those planted tomorrow. Today I got weeding done and dug up daylilies. Now it's raining. I was hoping to take more pics out there, and so many nice DL's are open. I got a lot of pics earlier, but my batteries died, and I had to wait for them to recharge. Now the rain. But there's always tomorrow. I'll definitely let you know if I go back to Harmon Hill.
Yes, I agree, Victor must join us at one of the RU's someday.
Hope you have nothing serious, Bill.
Karen
Hard to resist impulse buys.
Fair warning - There's a good cure for impulse buying. It's called taking Early Retirement. LOL
Lol :)
'scuse me, doesn't work. More time to shop = more shopping. Trust me.
Pam
Taking early retirement is itself an impulse buy!
LOL! Not necessarily, but I have known it to be unplanned, and then regretted. I haven't regretted it for one day.....but it makes a difference if you knowingly opt for some discipline to make sure your funds will last into your 90s. You just make choices and enjoy each day. It's amazing how you can make it all work if you want it to, but you do have to plan ahead and stick to the plan. We had a 20-year game plan. We are in year 25 now. :)
lol not that we've been retired that long! We're in our 5th year of retirement, but it was only early retirement for me. Hank was full retirement age when we retired. We just wanted to spend our days together, so we decided to make it work.
I was going to say - you're 5 years over the limit already! ^_^
Yeah, and we've probably got about 5 years' worth of good spending and impulse buying left. LOL HaHa Ha!!!
Maybe Hank can give javelin lessons?? ^_^
Or, I could give Impulse Buying lessons!
So put the javelins right near the checkout!!
Or maybe I'll just buy a very few heucheras with $3.99 shipping. :)
that was nice of them
Nice pics, Jen. Love the cute puppy "Love".
Louise, you and Hank have a lot of self-control, which many people lack. I seem to be able to go so long on that route, and then I cave.
Karen
