I planted my pumpkin vine in February (I think) and it's been growing very well with one decent sized pumpkin on it. I live in a hot dry climate zone (19) so I water it twice a day. Recently all the leaves suddenly faded in color and dried (or burnt?) at the edges. Also, the leaves closer to the base of the stem have died. I think that the vine is supposed die before I pick the pumpkin, but the rate it's going, it might die by August.
Is there anything I can do to make sure it lives till October so I can carve the pumpkin for Halloween?
Why is my pumpkin vine shrivelling?
Look near the stem and along the stems. Do you see anything that looks like sawdust? If so, you probably have squash vine borers and there's really nothing you can do about it except yank the vine.
