Hosta Guacamole not looking good

Elkin, NC

I don't know exactly what's going on here. Could someone tell me why it's turning brown and the leaves are splitting? It's has buds but one has died before even blooming.

With Hostas I always check for the common three...Water (too little or too much) Light (too much sun) and pests. Perhaps the mulch is too close to the crown, holding too much moisture against it, which can promote crown rot.

Did you plant it there recently? Could be transplant shock as well as the things moonhowl mentioned.

I planted them a couple of months ago. I'll check the things you mentioned moonhowl. Thanks!

You are too welcome, Edforlife. I agree with Pirl also, could just be transplant shock, and you have had some hot days in your neck of the garden...grin. good luck and let us know what you find/how it is doing.

Remove the yellowed leaves and any dead leaves - just cut them off - don't rip them off.
