Yes im sure there is....or i could tape one for you!! LOL
Coffee Break #63
Horrible, pirl!
Partly cloudy, 70 and humid, with 70% H.
Dumb question here: how would I keep it going all night long?
Thanks for the comma, Victor!
The nerve of those deer coming right up to the house! Would they leave the hosta alone if you put out apples for them?
- that's what I would try..
Thanks for the good thoughts. Each deer can eat 8 pounds of food a day and our herd numbers 17 or 21, depending on who is counting. That's a lot of apples or potatoes!
I still don't have the courage to see if they devoured Stained Glass...again.
OH NO!!!! so sorry!
not good pirl - hope you find a solution
been watching a ground hog run around my yard for a couple weeks now - the havahart is out and being ignored so far.
Thanks, all. They did return for more of Stained Glass and I hope they choke on the chards.
Had no idea you had a whole herd, Pirl....they are so destructive! Bill, what are you using for bait? They really love tomatoes.....
I don't stay up to see how many visit at once but doubt it's the whole herd, thank God.
wha - try a sexy photo of a female groundhog in that trap.
using watermelon right now
A sexy groundhog with nice watermelons.
On the news tonight....the mountain lion killed on the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich came from South Dakota....the DEP spokesperson said it traveled farther than any mt. lion ever did....this will never happen again, yada yada. Hello, how about the ones in Canada who are much closer? And if one found his way, many have!
apples always work for me Bill
I saw that, Marilyn. Crazy! Wonder if he took an interstate??
granny smith apples allison:)
Sorry about your deer pirl, Victor if you think groundhogs have sexy watermelons, I'm worried about you!
That is nuts about the mountain lion Robin.
I know some of you have gone to Longwood gardens, I am going this weekend, any advice? Probably will just spend a half day there, DH will drop Sue and I off and go do something on his own.
Randy only likes macs .. so that's what they get!!
Debi - skip lunch or bring a drink and a sandwich but don't forget the camera. It's a wonderland for gardeners.
Their watermelons are not to be missed. ^_^
Seedless?
To protect hosta, buy chicken wire rolls, then take metal snips and cut into 2-3 foot segments, and drape them over the hosta.
In the morning it only takes a few seconds to push segments in back of hosta, they won't be too visible in background...deer will eventual go to other locations.
Use temporary "twisties" if the deer paw the pieces away.
Actually, just laying the deer mesh over the hosta was quite easy and it folds up nicely. Well worth the five minutes it takes. Thanks for the idea - I can use it in another hosta garden we have.
Deb, Believe me you won't be able to do only 1/2 a day(unless it's unbearably hot) You going Sat or Sun?????
At Longwood Gardens----
Indoors, there is a small tree with an interesting feature: the trunk narrows for a few inches of height, then widens naturally again as it continued to grow.
The reason is (to me) very interesting! Longwood switched from a glass dome to an acrylic dome, then they realized that the plants weren't thriving at all, and then switched back to the glass dome.
The tree trunk is a "botanical record" of the switch.

Interesting
We are going Sunday morning, going to Lancaster Sat night, then Atlantic City Sunday night. We are limited timewise, I know we won't be able to see everything this time. We go to Lancaster quite a bit, I didn't realize how close it was. DH has no interest, so we can't leave him sitting on the curb too long!
That's why I was asking, to help decide what not to miss.
Interesting about the tree and dome.
I started a new thread...join us here :

I notice many people these days - especially younger people - starting their answer to many questions with 'So,'. Sounds weird to me.
"So what?"
(*wink*)
Sew buttons!
That was my mom's response. ^_^
I'll start a new thread.
Victor....there already was a new thread. Check up above.
