Nice story, Deb. Continued best wishes.
Coffee Break #63
Continued good recovery for Rebecca. Praying this surgery did the trick!
The lat few days we have been helping our son put a lean-to roof over a trailer they have at a lake just east of Mt. Hood. DIL's grandparents left her and her sister a lake-front lot on a small lake. The whole thing has been a comedy of errors. Tuesday we went to Redmond, OR to DIL's sister's house. Her DH got the supplies for this project. central ORego. Is beautiful!!!!! We had to take two vehicles. Well the brakes went out on ours, so we had to find someone to do an emergency brake job on Wednesday. Jeff said he'd be very happy if it was under $500. Turns out all four needed to be done. The total bill was $506. Jeff ws so ecstatic he gave the guy a tip! So, up to the lake we go late Wed. Afternoon. They poured the cement for the footings for the poles. They wanted a lean- to roof. Today our son cut his pinky finger pretty badly. He climbed down quickly, but almost passed out once on the ground. He really needed stitches. On the way home we found an urgent care facility open so he went in. While working on him he passed out. His heart rate was in the high 30's. They were very concerned and wouldn't let him leave. They sent him by ambulance to a hospital for observation. He is a runner like his father who also has a low pulse. So I am here with the grandykids. We were supposed to leave in the morning. I think things have changed, we'll see. Anyway I'm waiting for Jeff to get back from the hospital, doing laundry, and catching up here at DG.
Central Oregon is absolutely beautiful! Mtns. Canyons, rivers high desert. It was 90 on Tuesday when we got to Redmond, but was very dry, I DIDN't feel the heat like I do in Jersey, cuz of the humidity. It is on the possibility list for retiring.
Sorry for the rambling, very tired.
Geez Jan, your going to need a vacation from the vacation!!! Hope your son is OK and you took lots of pictures of beautiful Or. BIL went to scool there and he loved it too.
Sorry about your troubles Jan. Hope your son is better. I loved WA and OR when we visited.
wishing the best for your son Jan... get some rest!!...can't wait to see pics
Glad your niece, Deb, is on the road to recovery.....she's had a tough life with all those surgeries....Jan, you'll remember this vacation for a long time! Hope your son is doing better.....
Geez, Jan...hope your son is ok, at least you have gorgeous scenery to enjoy!
Glad at least you're ok Jan, albeit probably exhausted by now from the added stress as well. Never been up that far myself, but I've heard and seen pics of the Pacific Northwest and it is very beautiful. Best wishes for your son. You may consider a couple of days stopover on the way back outside Oregon just to rest a bit and de-stress before completing the journey home, may not be a good idea to take such a long trip back while tired..
- Enjoy the scenery and take plenty of pics! Good to hear from you as always. ☺
Wow - scary, Jan! Hope all is fine.
What an adventure you're having!
Thanks everyone. DS is fine. At the ER the doctor's reaction was that he wondered if he was a runner. actually sent him home instead of keeping him for observation.
Went to a small get-together with some PNW. DGers. Lunch was overlooking Mt. rainier. Spectacular!!! Enjoyed putting faces with names.
Will visit my dad's cousin tomorrow. Then have lunch at her daughter's before returning to son's house in Portland. We left our camping cooler there. Stay another day or two there without any projects before we return home.
sounds nice!!.. enjoy it Jan!!
Very pretty area.....
Eat the invasives!
http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/10/science/earth/10fish.html?_r=2&ref=science
Anyone who has dove the reefs of Florida knows the reefs were irreparably damaged for a couple of decades now. Sewage from the keys, Miami, boat traffic and warming water trends have left much of those reefs underwater desserts, or else covered in Red Slime Algae. - Another invasive which takes over when the reef is no longer healthy.
How does it taste??
As the asian carp ruins the Mississippi, I wonder why they couldn't be scooped up periodically and fed to pigs.
Lionfish?? - no one eats lionfish in this hemisphere as far as I know, they do eat angelfish, butterfly fish & triggerfish. But although I've caught them I would always throw them back, unfortunately most people did not.
Oh boy! I might become a turtle owner.
Looks like the dog is holding it up!
Great catch, Victor!
Reminds me of the Flintstones!
That's funny!!!!!!!!
Had to go back & find the dog!
Too funny, Sherrie! What are you planning on doing with it? It would probably make a nice planter.
Where's Fido?!
Anyone try out Google+ yet? I have not.
I have been putting oranges out in case the oriels stuck around.. and found out squirrels like them too
:(
Deer, too. They once trampled an entire field of daylilies about to bloom in a try for the orange half.
guess I will stop that then.. sigh
Same here.
Haven't seen many this year, hoping they come back in Aug. Had one come up right next to the house for the orange halves a few times, but ever since the grackles moved in they disappeared, don't even hear them now. Still some time left before they migrate back South, not putting any oranges up until I hear them again...
WOW, what a statement...
"In simple terms, accreditation is like certification of the certification body. Certificates issued by accredited certification bodies may be perceived on the market as having increased credibility."
Legalese!
Makes my head spin!
Good thing they used simple terms...
