Wow - thoughts and prayers her way.
Coffee Break #63
Yes - but that was the way in the old days. Now, you're lucky to get two days!
I know
- hopefully it will...
- Found out my fingers swell when I have a glass of wine, and stay swollen for about 1 day afterwards so I stopped having a glass with dinner. Doesn't happen with beer or a drink, maybe some mild allergic reaction to sulfates..
There was a hospital in NYC that used to be called the Hospital for the Ruptured and Crippled! Some things have certainly changed for the better. I live near a former state facility called Letchworth Village. The stories I have heard about it are spine-chilling. Parents would literally dump their 'not so perfect' kids there to live in horrible institutional conditions. Kids with the mildest learning disabilities, or no disabilities at all, were thrown together with severely impaired. Just horrific.
Yes - could be, WC. My mom is allergic to sulfates.
That is awful Victor.
Blessings to your niece, Debi.
Victor - I've used a few chiropractors in the past and it's hard to judge who's best unless you have a personal recommendation from friends or colleagues of professionals. You could always pass their parking lots and see which ones have the most clients - sort of like a great restaurant. Good luck. Swelling can come from heat so see how your finger feels tomorrow.
Yes it is. Lots of abuse went on there.
thanks Pirl
So if I'm in heat...??
Uh oh!
Debi im sorry to hear of your niece's heart problem, so young to endure so much. She sounds like a strong girl....got some of Auntie's spunk in her, huh? ^_^
How are the kids, Deb? Next week is the stickball game and I thought I would be seeing them. ^_^
A few notes from the Carrano pool saga. So far this year:
The filter grid busted, the inlet pipe o-ring was shot, the filter grid manifold broke, the pump seized, the leaf rake pole broke and, today, the timer crapped out.
Have I said how much I hate the pool?????????
soooo happy we are left justified again!!!
Debi - best wishes for your niece's quick recovery! Victor, I think word of mouth from people you trust is one of the best ways to find a good chiropractor. There are so many questionable ones out there, but definitely some good ones too. My company is the plan administrator of a health insurance trust fund so I hear lots of horror stories, but also some great feedback.
Debi, wishing the best for your niece....she's a tough cookie to have endured so much....Victor, my chiropractor attends the same church I do.....he was very upfront about treatment...said if he couldn't help in a few visits, he wouldn't continue.....treatments helped way better than I ever dreamed....
Thanks for the feedback.
Deb, praying for fast healing for your niece.
Victor, it may be the humidity making you swell, do use use a lot of salt?
Chiropr. should come with good recommendations from friends....when you get there he should ask all kinds of questions about what specifically is going on and do some simple pain tests, then should do an x-ray to make sure there are no underlying problems, he should explain everything he's going to do and not automatically write out a script for pain
Thanks, Jen. I could get pain meds anytime I want so I not into that. good points.
No, don't use a lot of salt. Been happening over time.
Final shuttle tomorrow. Never lived up to the promise, though sad to see the end of manned spaceflight for us for a while.
Well hopefully they can use the space funds for something else
Debbie sending good thoughts for your niece♥
Victor I saw a Chiropractor for acupuncture and laser treatments for my back but none of the manipulation stuff...good luck with it, back problems are tough.
We had a State Hospital in out neighborhood when I was a kid, it was finally shut own after more than 50 years of abuse. So sad, many patients were just kids that parents put away...I can still picture many of them roaming around the streets and going in the deli for cigarettes, the creepy owner would open a pack and sell single ones to them.
Thanks all for the well wishes for Rebecca. She is a tough kid. Before surgery she was knocked out on pre anesthesia meds, the doc came in to talk to them, she sat up and started asking him questions.
Victor, have fun at the stickball game, kids are doing good. Looking for a house and planning the wedding. I get to make cookies for the wedding, was happy they didn't want me to make the cake.
Italian cookies, Debi?
Debi, wishing perfect healing for your niece.
Victor, how's the chiropractor hunt going? I need a chiropractor too. I found one that someone I respect a great deal who highly recommends him. Only problem is, he's way out in Long Island somewhere near the nassau/suffolk border. He had a few he could recommend to me that are in Manhattan, but none up by me or in Westchester.
Thanks for all your great wishes everyone!!!
Harper
Here's the LI guy, by the way.

Nassau county
...hope he doesn't charge an arm and a leg. lol!
Just started, Harp. Good luck to you too. Your pain is probably from working too much!! ^_^
feel better people!!!
Thanks. I have had an ongoing pain in my right hand that the regular doc said was tendonitis and that the solution would be to not use it or have surgery. I didn't like either option!
my co-worker had it done.. his doc told him to wait until he couldn't take it anymore.. then do it
An OT might be a better option.
I was thinking what Victor said & agree to look for that type doc. always a 2nd opinion. When I was having feet tested on the extent of my neoropathy with a neuosergeon he also did hands & said 'that's carpel tunnel'. As a result i take vit. B6 & wear braces on my wrists at night so I don't bend my wrists back.
Hope things get better for you, Harper....maybe acupuncture would help with your hand.....
Betty Ford died.
Just saw that too
I'm probably more emotional than usual, but I fell in love today. With my niece, Rebecca.
I went to see her at the hospital after work today, and she was so miserable. It wasn't quite 24 hours after getting out of surgery. I spent more time with her than ever before. They live out of town, but this surgeon moved from near them to here, so I'm the closest family right now. She is my niece's daughter, Sue's grandaughter.
She is developmentally delayed, so isn't the typical 16 year old. But she is funny. She told her mom to make a grocery list. She wanted chocolate milk, pepsi, mountain dew, and root beer. She hadn't had anything by mouth for 42 hours, she was thirsty.
The nurse came in and Rebecca asked her if she could sit in a chair. The nurse said they'd have to check with the doc, but asked her if she wanted to sit up more in the bed. She said, no, I'm comfortable.
She has a cell phone and was trying to read a message from her cousin's first birthday party. The phone was giving her trouble, and she was getting frustrated, and said ...this fffffpphhone.
I think that is my new curse!!
Thanks for everyone's well wishes, it means so much!
more hugs to you and the family Deb.... it is a good new curse!!
