I could use some help with this plant. I just picked this up with some other plants from someone on craigslist. I'm not sure what happened but as you can see it looks like it was chopped off at the top and one of the branches has started to re-root itself! (Seen in the middle left side of this photo) It's very odd looking at this point.
What would you do? How can I help this plant fill out and rebound?
Thanks for you help.

I would cut it back and re-root the cuttings. I have done it and they will grow. Good Luck..

Thank you, I will try that. To reroot can I just plant the cuttings or do I need to root in water first to develop the roots?

Hi Maggie, I agree with Jasmine and take cuttings, as the plant has LONG branches between leafy bits, maybe you could try layering the stems for cuttings, to do this you would need to insert some canes into the pot, take your time and find nice stems that you can bend down into the soil, stick the cane beside this soil and bury the stem that touches the ground, then tie the top part of the stem to the cane to stop the stem from being moving around as you want the bit under the soil to grow roots, once the roots have grown (maybe a few months) you can then cut the new plant away from the parent plant and re-pot the new plant into nice fresh compost, while the plant is growing roots don't forget to mist the foliage and water the plant.
Good luck. WeeNel.
