It will bloom the year after...it's every other year.
Garden Photos #12
yep... once est. you can almost get it to bloom every year if you deadhead and it doesn't produce seeds... poops it's self out if seeds are formed
Are you sure that it isn't a Japanese iris?
That's what I was thinking too :). She's pretty though!
i thought the same - although i am pretty sure i did not buy and japanese iris - the tag is out there will check it out tomorrow
It's a pretty one, Bill....and Allison, that's an unusual looking hydrangea.
Beautiful Iris Bill! I do agree with everyone though, it looks like a J.I. to me......'Pink Puffer' is the one that comes to mind.
I'd say JI for sure!
I have a few, maybe I'll try deadheading one and let the others go to seed. It's worth a try...
Pam
Thanks, you guys! So many pretty pics here. You all have wonderful stuff. I love looking at everyone's pics.
Celeste, that double Shasta is one I got at one of my RU's, but I don't remember who brought it. I'm horrible about that. From now on I'm going to write the name of the giver on the tag to remind me. I always write the name of where I bought stuff from and the year. The name of the giver is just as important. Your Asiatic lily 'Corrida' is gorgeous!
Jo, watch out with that spotted bellflower. It likes to run, and before you know it it'll be all over the place!
Allison, I love your plants in the little teacups. Are those regular size ones? I have a bunch, and that is a neat idea. I didn't know foxglove would rebloom again after deadheading. I thought it bloomed once in it's second year, then died. Good to know.
Marilyn, your Ollalie DL looks a lot like Rose Emily. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/139218/
Jen, my friend is stationed in Bamburg.
Bill, that JI is a superb one!
Karen
Karen they are bigger than normal... planters with drain holes ... some 6" some 12".. will have to take photos of all the ones I have.. been picking them up at christmas tree shop & walmart.. I have 3 different sets.. the green / tan .. a set with pastel stripes & dots... and a vivid red set with a tea pot... have em spread around the house.. will have to take pictures of the rest.. I found the ones that do go to seed... don't bloom the next year but do come back.. and some that just are not strong enough to bloom every year even with deadheading.. but I have had one in front of the house for 5 years now.. I was trying to plant alternate years .. the same one planting real close.. but it didn't work out that way.. sometimes I just let em go to seed.. and hopefully have more
Allison the first year you gave me foxglove I did nothing to them. Last year I took seeds to bring to the RU, otherwise...did nothing. This is the 3(?) year they have come back to me.....I think it has something to do with the original sower....she planted them w/love. ^_^
Karen: Whats spotted Bellflower?
wha:I vote JI too. its a beauty no matter what.
Hi Pixie.maybe you can answer a foxglove question.I planted Bluestone 3pak of the outfaceing Strawberry Mountain fox gloves. The first summer 1 dies right away. This spring another one disolved and died the 3rd was looking good, put up a stalk ( even tho the plant was never over 18 inches)
The stalk looked like it was going to have buds but they never matured ,just teeeny spikes .I yanked it.
There is always another plant in line for my desires.
I have not had good luck with common FG's clay soil might be the problem.
Both of mine are in beds with dappled shade in the hottest part of the day. The dirt is not clay...one is in good soil the other is in not so good soil that borders on being dry.
ooohhh ::::blush::: I know they don't like it too wet JoAnn.. some will flower and die.. can usually spot it the same year.. as the flowers fade.. so does the foliage... that massive blooming one last year.. the plant is just tiny tiny.. not going to flower.. guess some are just better than others
Oops! Jo, that comment was meant for Martha. She had posted the pic of spotted bellflower (Campanula punctata).
Allison, I have seen the large cups and saucers, but the ones I've seen didn't look as cute as yours. My foxgloves were really prolific self seeders last year, so I have tons of seedlings this year, and a few have even bloomed.
Nice daylilies, Celeste!
Karen
Really pretty, Jo!
Karen
change the name to pinkish prince.. it is pretty though.. I haven't seen that type at christmas tree after the year I bought them.. they are on there last leg though.. I put all the chipped or broken spots towards the back.. LOL.. the one is completely separated from the saucer .. I had to line it up right to get it to sit.. guess I could glue it.. ehh.. maybe
PP is pretty, but def. not purple.
I love your 'Frisco' Allison....meant to tell you last time how stunning it was.
thanks!!... I was watching it yesterday with the storm.. just praying it didn't break being so tall.. all good .. I will take a full shot once a few more blooms open... it's stinkin huge!!!
Karen.thanks for restoring my sanity.
Jo, I meant to say although PP is not purple is sure is pretty with those yellow lilies and coneflowers. ^_^
