Morning Glories 2011 #08

Becky, Pink Silk does indeed have the heart shaped leaves. Can't wait for another bloom on that one. I
love the color.

Another Lav (Blue) Beauty. I'm partial to this one

Regarding post 8680052, are the blossoms of this plant as variable as purple flaked? That is, no two flowers are alike? I would like to see several blossoms of it as they bloom in succession.

Doug - Nice bloom! It's looks like it was crossed with Ishidatami! http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/176760/

In answer to the question about the Moon and Stars bloom of Helena's, each flower should be unique. It is definitely not a stable cross yet!

Jackie - The heart-shaped leaves on the Pink Silk are true leaves for that cultivar. Yay! Beautiful Plum Tie Dye and Blue Beauty! Nice flower form on the BB, too! ♥

Thanks Becky, so happy to have a few blooms finally.

Pretty blooms Linda.

Linda - Nice combo those two blooms! I really like your youjiro (darker pink one)! And the other looks a little like Pink Porcelain! Very nice!!! :-)

I had a few blooms today, too. Not quite as hot here, but the humidity sure makes it seem hotter! Ugh ...

Sidare always does this as the vine ages ... it starts producing striped blooms. :-) Always a fun cultivar!

Mauve Splash blooms. Interesting that one was a split petal bloom.

Sazanami bloom showing the tinge of pink starting around the center of the bloom as it is color-changing as it ages.

A complete change in color to pink. I rather like the looks of a "pink" Sazanami! :-)

Becky, wonderful blooms but I'm just blown away by the Pink Saz and Mauve Splash.

Virginia Beach, VA(Zone 7b)

Thanks Jackie and Becky. My morning glories are not doing as good this year. I
was late in planting them. I over do it by buying too many flower seeds and don't
know where to put everything. I told myself I wasn't going to do that this year, but
I did. I have to have better self control for next year.
Love everyone's blooms, they are all gorgeous.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

Pixie - I agree! Some beautiful blooms here!

Jackie - I thought you might like that Pink Sazanami! LOL! I was surprised that the bloom was still open and not wilted. Took a pic right away and thought of posting it for you! That Mauve Splash is such a weird color, isn't it! I don't even know if "mauve" is the right color to describe it?

Linda - I am very frugal with MG seeds, which is rather ridiculous because I have plenty and they will stay viable for years if properly stored. But I like to just grow one seed/vine per container. It makes it easier for seed collecting and identifying. I used to accumulate a lot of seed packets too in trades and store bought packets, but I have discovered over the years what kind of plants I really like and what does well here, so that's what I focus on growing now. I still have room for more garden beds, just not the funds to do it right now. I hope to get rid of every piece of lawn for garden beds, paths, and seating areas. I dislike mowing especially in this heat and humidity! So my plan is to replace all sod for flowers! :-)

*sigh* really nice show everyone..

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Becky, I'm not sure if Mauve Splash is actually mauve, I'm not good at describing colors eithers. I just know I love
everything about it.
First time I've ever seen a Pink Saz, its drop dead gorgeous

had a nice hige, white. birds ripped it out, where it was..
no blooms on this one yet, afraid to cut and untangle it, it is the setosa I overwintered, looking small and un setosa like. I will cut it away from the honeysuckle and move it to the south fence when I get back from Arkansas..

Nice blooms Debra.
That weird bloom from me has surely got to be a Weird Saz bloom.
Love the Kikyo.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I planted all three of the Saz'z you sent me. One planter is all from Becky, one from EmmA, one from Doug, one from Helena, one from onalalees ( a red white and blue i. nil set)
these are Ronnie's I. Purps, volunteer from same planter last year.

Debra, I like the color of Ronnies purps. I have a few coming up from Colins sds. Can't wait to see what I get.
