I have 2 potted dwarf moro blood orange trees, about 4 feet high. I've had them for more than a year. I was told when I bought them that they were grafted to dwarfing root stock. They seem happy enough, plenty of nice green leaves, though not especially fruit productive. I don't mind about the fruit because they are still young trees. However I have noticed that when we have a good rain, (very rarely these days) they sprout new branches very quickly, and the leaves growing from these new branches are 4-5 times larger than the normal leaves, and shaped a little different. Have I been starving my trees of water (I check with a meter every week or so), or is the rootstock asserting itself, and putting out branches from the top of the trees? Is that even possible?
