I am first time gardener and planted these this spring - all doing well.
Mandavilla
Honeysuckle
Jasmine
Moss rose
Petunias
Caladiums
Is mix with water fertilizer better than time release pellets?
"Bloom" fertilizer a good idea?
The only reason I use time released food is ease when I'm planting. The thought of using any product weekly or every ten days is just too much at my age.
You can always try it half strength and see how you like the performance.
Just recently someone said to use Epsom Salt for petunias so I have tried that on two of three planted in the exact same area.
For caladiums I just use bone meal when I plant them.
To be honest, IF you add fertilizers at planting time to the soil mix, I don't think you need to feed your plants again till either end of season for perennials and again in spring mixed in with a mulch, IF you over feed the plants, then you will get very week soft greenery at the cost of nice flowers,
The annuals don't really need feeding as the have a very short growing span, dead heading them is better than a feed, but IF the plants have worked really hard, a half strength liquid feed will be helpful.
Keeping the watering up is more important in your zone than feeding. hope this helps. Weenel.
