God willing I'm staying right here on LI, I'm done moving around all over the place..
Weather in Your Garden #100 Indecisive Weather
Ditto!
But the hotter it gets the more Maine tempts me.
I don't like heat and humidity either. I end up with severe headaches if I try to work in the heat. I'd be thrilled if we never saw higher than 75 in the summer! Fortunately, I have a lot of shade so I can garden all day long without ever being in direct sun if I plan it right. Can't get away from the humidity though!
Yeah, SOJ you have a nice shady retreat there!!! My backyard is like AZ!!!
poured for about 20 mins.. and a couple of rumbles
Rumbling here and rain
POURING
My dad said that temp was ok as long as it didn't get below 68 or above 72. I have certainly joined his club. can't garden in the evening because of the mosquitos.
Count me in that group too!
Hoping to get some of that rain.
Count me in as well.
Yes, I'm in that group as well....my friend & I had a nice lunch....great ice cream....I stopped at the store, she stayed in the car....I turned the key to open the windows, but didn't turn the key back, dead battery!.....one hour later, after sitting in the sweltering parking lot, AAA shows up....not a happy camper here!
Oh no!
is that the same guy that was going to NC to retire??
The mountains!!!
with heat and humidity and red necks:)
No humidity there - that's on the coast. Rednecks, maybe. But as a NYer, that doesn't bother me. ^_^
right nc and no humidity - make sure you have solar and ac:)
I think it's a certain sign of intelligence to get as far away from Florida in the summer as possible! LOL Even as a child there, I couldn't wait to leave in the summer. Dreadful! No place like New England in the summer in my opinion! We went without power again yesterday and well into the night for the fourth time since we've been back. I love the storms for the garden watering factor, but not being able to read at night is not my favorite thing. 70 here now and very comfy. We did get more than an inch of rain last night.
Celeste - love that meadow shot early in the thread, and Pirl, that caladium/Dusty Miller bed is gorgeous! Quite the view out the window!
Bill - the Asheville area is practically in TN!
Thanks Louise and i agree...Pirl thats a lovely scene!!!!
Thanks!
I agree! Sorry about the power, Louise.....reading by candlelight is not for me anymore!
Severe storm went thru here, wow some of that thunder shook the house...saw double lightening bolts...that was wild....
Lost power for 2 hours
Ugh, Jen.......with kids that probably wears thin! Today as we were out and about doing errands, we saw a lot of really big trees down all around us. We are having 4 very large, 250-year-old maples taken down in our front yard and across the street where we park our Jeep. They are getting really dangerous, and a large (heavy) limb falling a foot from the Jeep a couple weeks ago did it for us. They might be down by the day of the RU.
wow craziness
Wow - big stuff, Louise!
Hubby just got home said our road is closed at the one end
TN is not NH - get AC
OK. ^_^
woke up to a rumble & some showers... supposed to be more for today.. 70 now going to 78.. perfect!!
Woke up to a rumble and 10 rain drops. Disappointing. Victor, interesting information you posted. Why would weather be more variable when there were no airplanes flying?
Speaking of heat and humidity, I'm leaving for Nashville today. I basically can only travel in summer because of school in all other seasons, and best friend lives in Nashville. Oh well. I'll get farther north later. Last summer in Canada, the weather was perfect! Just wouldn't want their winters.
It's so sad to have to take down those trees. Because of the crazy weather around here, lots and lots of big old trees have been taken down. It will be sad when there are not old ones anymore. We need to take down the one behind the house. It's damaged. Cost and the big empty space are holding me back so far. Soon.
could be t-storms here this morning - going to a garden tour in rockport so hoping for good weather
Enjoy, Bill.
Have a great visit, Candy.
Victor - ditto to what WC said - get AC in Asheville!
Sorry about the trees, Louise.....my big pines have to come down this fall, & I'm dreading it. Jen, sounds like you had one awful storm.....a few rumbles here about 7 this morning, about 5 minutes of rain.....it continues cloudy, so I'm hopeful for more.....have a safe trip, Candy.
81°, but it feels like 88° because of the humidity which is at 68% right now. Wind from the South at 6mph, overcast.
Already past the predicted high for today of 78°, thunderstorms in the area into tonight with a low of about 67°.
Very humid. 81, with 73% H. T-storms in the forecast.
Humid here, but tried to ignore it as I was pinching back mums and deadheading. We HATE losing these old maples and have procrastinated, but they are too close to the house and cars and their leaves and tree tops are getting small and sparse. That's a sign of a hollow inside. :(
84° with 74% humidity...YUCK
got 2.04" rain yesterday, more storms expected
77, 89% H, mix of sun and clouds - horrible. I can work for 20 minutes at a time but think I'm done for the day now.
