Yucky day on tap. Mostly sunny and 81, with 66% H. Air quality alert.
Weather in Your Garden #100 Indecisive Weather
Thunder rumbles in the distance
88 degrees. The sun is intense again today. Just received a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 pm. Going to the herb garden at 4. It's going to be hot.
Just had a storm roll thru, it was POURING
We are at 85, sunny and clear. Could use a shower to water the plants though.
here comes another storm
our power flicked off & back on a few mins later.. thank goodness
got hammered with storms...boy did it pour and thunder and super windy, trees were bent over
1.28"
just came in from watering my containers.. sooo humid here.. ick
You had to water???
yeah all the containers were dried out.. I do the back in the AM.. front in the PM
The storms went to the north & south of me.....not a drop, just got out of the garden...the weeds don't want to budge...the soil is rock hard....
My poor plants received a beating from all that rain and wind, one of my glads was broken, all the petals are off my pink rose
what a bummer Jen
I had to water, too. No rain here at all but by 5 PM there was a glorious strong breeze that was most welcome.
One good thing it def cooled things off and the humidity dropped
I am jealous Jen.. still sticky here
mid 80's and sunny.
We could use some. Just back from the baseball game. Was not so bad. Decent breeze.
75°, H 90%,
barely noticeable wind from the Southwest, with fog now developing. - been watering all week, no rain...
90° today, but got a bit of weeding done in the shade. took a nap this afternoon & then wandered out to the room with a/c. Too hot to even read the mail. although tossed unwanted catalogs. You would think that some would give up.
It's 65 here and the sun's up. Yesterday was hot again. Weeded in the shade only. There was a nice breeze. No rain though, the radar showed the front withering on the other side of the river.
Speak about watering boxes, I'd forgotten for one day and they were scorched! Hope I can nurse them back and kids don't forget while I'm gone this weekend.
It's 66 and overcast at the moment, heading for a high of 80 .
I agree about the catalogs, Lucy. You'd think they'd give up at some point. With companies changing hands and always going down the wrong road to unacceptable plants and seeds, we've stopped using many that we relied on in the past.
Candy - I forgot about two plants and hope they recover. They'll still have to wait until it cools off before I can plant them. You could probably cover yours with shade cloth if you have it. I hope they bounce back for you. Used a lot of water crystals this year and they are working well.
Glad for all the 10 and 12 hour gardening days I worked in late May and early June. Now I can stay in the AC during the heat of the day.
Just going out for photography this morning.
79°, wind from the Northwest at 0.3mph, H 73%, Sunny
Supposed to go up to 87° here today, possibility of isolated thunderstorms increasing towards evening with a low of 68° expected for tonight.
- going to be a hot & humid day here.
82.6 with 66% H. and barely a breeze - sunny.
Air quality alerts will allow me a nap!
Warm, sunny, and a slight breeze....going out to lunch with a friend, & trying a new ice cream place up the road apiece......
Hot, humid day on tap. 83 now, with 64% H.
75° & 'only' going into the high 80s today. Yesterday was the only one where I had to retreat into the room with a/c.
Do you feel as wimpy about the heat as I do, Lucy?
Exactly. I have never taken heat well. Perhaps because I grew up near Lake Michigan in WI which is cooler in summer. I remember fisiting relative in Omaha as a child. I never would have been able to do so as an adult.
Though I grew up on Long Island, we did spend a lot of time in the summer around Watkins Glen, so I can relate.
I just came in from possibly 20 minutes of photography and I'm drenched. This is almost the same lock down we face with snow but with colorful views from all the windows...not just white.
From the kitchen bay window...
I'm not going out there!!!
89° 53% humidity...high expected 94°!!!!!
Don't!
83 and breezy
I hate the heat and humidity - now more than ever. Don't know if it's relating to getting older, but my tolerance is so much lower now and I sweat so much more easily. Don't like cold either but I really think if I was forced to choose between a long cold season place like Maine vs a long hot season place like FL, I would take ME in a heartbeat.
86 with 57% H. Was dying while working on my green pool.
Same way,Victor as I get older I am HATING the heat
My buddy in Fl is getting that way too, he moved there from NY 25yrs ago and now it's getting to him, - good gardener, knows how to work with tiles & concrete, made a lot of very nice improvements on his home, now for the last few yrs he's complaining about the heat slowing him down too much.. too much stress on the body.
88° real feel 98°, H 51%
I'll vote for Maine anytime over this heat. I felt as though I was walking through fire while in the sun. Need more night lights or else I'll have to get up at 5 AM to garden.
The older I get the worse the heat is.
