Forecast calls for t-storms tomorrow PM and we're going up to see the Renegades in Duchess. Hope they're wrong.
Weather in Your Garden #100 Indecisive Weather
Thank you for the well wishes. I've stayed out of the garden (almost) and I'm not lifting anything. Have to work on school work anyway.
Those clouds were cool. Star ship Enterprise maybe?
Supposed to get humid again. The weather today was hot, clear and breezy. A nice summer day.
yep, I saw one hit the road in front of me while I was driving on the I 95 between Palm beach & Delray, that's what it looks like except that it's white hot.
73°, H 77%
Amazing how lightning enjoys golf.
66 now going to 84 saying thunderstorms for tonight
55 now high of 79 today.
84 degrees and sunny. Thunderstorms for pm. On my way to see some trees planted on our school playground.
Side note regarding Victor's link to the Normal, IL golf course:
The classic headline from Illinois announcing the marriage of a man of Oblong, IL and a female from Normal, IL -
OBLONG BOY MARRIES NORMAL GIRL
75 with 79% H. Too much hot weather heading here.
Here's how I gardened yesterday for seven hours in the heat as I used bungee cords to hold back the baby's breath, larkspur and yarrow. A lot of it will have to leave the property once it cools down and I can remove it.
Love that umbrella! Hazy sunshine here, T-storms this evening.....sure could use some more pounding rain in the gardens.....
Great idea for the umbrella
Clouds are starting to roll in, humid 90%!!!!!!!!!!!!! guess it's gonna rain....75°
Thanks, Marilyn and Jen - great garage sale buy at $2.00. At least it helped a lot with the heat situation.
Overcast here and very humid. Wish it would rain.
Nice garden Pirl and the umbrella looks like a great idea.
Hot and humid here. Hope we get those thunderstorms tonight so I don't have to water. Lots of weeding to do though, but I'm in for the afternoon.
Two beautiful trees planted on our school playground. Now I just have to make sure they get watered.
Very nice garden Pirl, that must be the bay window that you had installed a year or so ago..
85°, wind from the South at 11mph, H 63°, mostly cloudy
We're at out high of 85° so far, wind has picked up a little since this am with some dark clouds from the Southwest now rolling in. Presently very warm, but not unpleasant. High chance of thunderstorms toward this evening and overnight. Tonight's low 69°.
Actually the new one is on the other side of the house but thanks for the compliment.
I went out to water two plants and the sun is just too hot for me. AC is so much nicer.
78 and 70% H. here with almost no breeze. I'm staying inside.
Not a bad day here.....clouds rolled in & kept the temp to 80.....was a little humid weeding this morning.....nice breeze now.....
Back from the Renegades game. 73 and a very humid 86%.
Game was horrible. Like a little league game, full of errors and dumb plays. SI Yankees beat the Renegades 11-6.
73°, H 90% cloudy, very little wind
a/c is on for the night.
Going with the attic fan here.
So nasty humid out there, it never rained and we could use it
It's 63 w/ 88% humidity this morning. Scattered T-storms with a high of 72 today.
Very foggy morning but it's supposed to be low 80s and much less humid. Beautiful sunshine right now.
Yesterday I oversaw the planting to two trees in the school playground. In a few years, there should be some welcome shade there. I'll be spending lots of time at school this summer I can see. These trees have to be watered every other day for the summer. I can't rely on the custodians as for example, over the long 4th they'll all be gone. Therefore, I'll be there at least twice over the weekend.
Naturally, I couldn't walk away from the gardens. They got watered and weeded (barely scratched the surface of the needed weeding.) Very hot sweaty work, but I felt better afterward.
Today it's curriculum again. Ugh.
67 now going to 81.. same here said the humidity is going to drop today.. it is a lot of work you do Candy.. but something you can feel good about
Candy - are the trees well mulched with at least 3" (but not the deadly volcano method)? The mulch would not eliminate the need to water but it would be very helpful to conserve moisture for the trees and keep the soil cooler for them.
69, 90% H., overcast. We did have rain last night but I never heard it. It knocked over an outdoor umbrella in one of those heavy cast iron stands as well as an amaryllis in summer bloom.
69°, wind calm, H 92%, cloudy
Going up to 82° today with winds shifting NW and increasing to about 11mph. Thunderstorm with a very nice firework display rolled through at 2am last night and dumped a needed 0.5" of rain.
Clear to partly cloudy tonight, low will be about 60°.
Did it rain here? Of course it did....should be 80 & less humid today....trucks have been beeping up & down this road since 6:30....no asphalt on it yet!
They must be prioritizing, first they put the Porta-Potty in, then they put the asphalt..
Funny, WC!
Yes, it's a lot of work I'm doing, I love the outcome, but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Pirl, the garden center planted the trees and they have a nice well around the base for watering into and no volcano mulch. I hate seeing all the trees with volcanoes at their bases and worry about the outcome for those trees in the future.
We had a thunderstorm in the night, I awoke enough to hear it and then go back to sleep. There was an inch and a quarter in my rain gauge this morning. A good amount. I had despaired of actually getting rain yesterday and watered the gardens. I'm afraid the plants are getting used to a lot of water!
Candy - glad to hear it. Volcanoes are deadly.
Gorgeous day! Big puffy clouds. Sunny and 78, with a nice 56% H. Had 0.14" overnight to clear things out.
Just curious what level is the school? Can the kids be old enough to not swing on trees & damage them? Thank you for your care.
mid 70's and sunny. Nice breeze right now.
Great day!!
Yes, the breeze made the sun tolerable.
Too sunny today.
Just had a lovely evening in the Herb Garden. The breeze kept the bugs at bay, there were plenty of weeds to pull and the temp was in the high 70s. Came home with a pot full of Ricola mint for tea, and a few plants to plant at the school tomorrow when Garden Club meets. Nice day.
I think today was the nicest this month.....while walking Suey, she stuck her head in some bushes & something hissed & snarled at us.....surprising how fast I moved....walked on a totally different trail!
