Hello,
I have a 2 year old Silk Tree that is about 4 feet tall. Last year it put on a lot of growth and seemed to do quite well. This year, I notice that the leaves are not opening like they should during the day. Does anyone know what is causing this? I'm worried it might be a sign that something is wrong.
I do have a 1 year old Silk Tree (it's supposed to be a little bit more cold hardy) and it's leaves are doing quite well. They open in the morning, close at night, and has many, many more branches than my 2 year old tree.
Thanks!

Is it getting the right amount of water? I have one that I keep in a pot, and if it gets too dried out then the leaves tend to do that. Many times overwatering can cause similar symptoms to overwatering, so overwatering might cause the same thing to happen (I've never overwatered mine, so I don't know for sure). Or is it maybe not getting enough sun?
That's interesting. Maybe it isn't. I do tend to water the little one more frequently. I had just mulched around both of them with newspaper (as a weed barrier), then straw and then chipped pine on top and so in my mind I thought they'd retain more water and therefore need less. However, who knows. I watered it some more today in a nice big circle around the root zone to test that theory. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
