I just purchased a dwarf garden phlox an wondering if I need to deadhead it to keep it blooming a longer period. Have not even planted it yet, has been raining and blowing since I got it. Did set it out in the area I want to plant it in and wind blew alot of the blossoms off!!! Thanks.
deadheading dwarf garden phlox
I don't think your dwarf Phlox will be too happy in a windy situation, I(F it is an Alpine type, it needs a lot of sun, sheltered from wind by being placed at the foot of a rock etc, and fairly fertile soil, they are good sunk into rock crevices and because I live in an area with lots or rain, when I plant all my ground cover plants, I always plant them into the soil with a very slight lilt, List, tilted forward or what ever you guy's cal it, this way any rain water wort sit in the crown of the plants as this causes rot and have lost many plants to this before I realized the rain sat in the middle of the plants without realising, OH well thats what gardening is all about eh. Good luck. WeeNel.
