Coffee Break #62 Officially Summer

They do have his DNA found in her body. That does not prove it was consensual or forced.

She's a pro...I say deport her to wherever she came from. 'Exile'. She probably has no $ net worth and I wouldn't waste tax payer dollars feeding her in Jail, just get her out and keep her out for the rest of her life.

My sister just sold her house and is moving to NC. I hate to say it but I really hope I am next.

Just got a windows update which locked one of my computers, the one that has Windows 'live ID' luckily I was able to reset and start-up in Safe Mode to uninstall the update,

Sherrie....wouldn't you miss New England? NC is hot, humid, & buggy....well, OK, so are we, but not most of the year. WC, glad you figured out what to do....not sure I would.....

South Hamilton, MA

I spent a few weeks in NC just after we were married. Outside of clay tennis courts that you could play on at night, never again. I'll take New england summers anyday.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

I'll also take the cool, cold, and snow over the heat and humidity in NC though I do love the state and the scenery, especially the mountains and seashore.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

not my cup of tea either..

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Okay, you're freaking me out as NC has been high on my retirement destinations!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

It used to be on ours, too, Victor. Then we took a trip, investigated, and came to Southold instead.

Were you thinking of the coast or where?

I'm sure you don't want to hear about the motel with the dried dripping blood!

My research indicates that Hawaii is the only place with year-round stabilized microclimates, IF you have a few million $$$ for Paradise.

And "Paradise" has mosquitoes.

No snow shovels, and the winds keep temps within 30 degrees of target...no relatives will visit, but if they do, they'll stay forever.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No, we are considering the inland mountain area - general Asheville area.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Just went for a ride on my stepfather-in-law's Harley. Cool!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Asheville is ideal. You selected the best area.

Hawaii is also too humid May through October.

East Bridgewater, MA

Actor/comedian Harry Anderson felt forced to leave his beloved New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, because he perceived a high level of incompetence in the aftermath.

He chose Asheville for his family.

(edit: Harry Anderson was the star of "Night Court" in the 1980's, and appeared on "Cheers" many times.)

******************************

Hawaii has 21 of the 22 climate categories in the world, with snow on mountain peaks year-round, and dry (not humid) locations on some windward sides.

Kau Desert isn't residential, but there are higher altitudes for those of us who want the atmosphere to be "high and dry."

Only NY has NY pizza.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I have the recipe. ^_^

For Lombardi's ?!?

They won't be happy...and you need an 800-degree brick oven to even get close to the flavor.

Thomaston, CT

I just need to get out of CT in January......

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

- you need the water too, everything tastes different because of the water, it's a different PH, leaning on alkaline. I figure when a person retires they want to be surrounded by familiar things, you really don't want to be bothered by re-adjusting at an old age. Therefore Victor, it's much better to move down here where me and Pirl are, that way you can be happy and go for sky line walks in the city, (and eat good food) lol!

Connecticut is so lovely in the winter, of course there is the slight problem of icy roads that look like glass and are totally un-drivable sometimes, but that's just one of the minor, short term inconveniences of living in the wonderful, highly sophisticated Northeast. Wheee!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I agree with all of that, WC, but I just cannot see staying here with the taxes and high cost of living. I would have to keep my wife working until she's 80. Hmmmm......^_^

East Bridgewater, MA

Nevada.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Be aware of what any state takes in tax revenue from your investments, Victor. That eliminated a lot of states we might have selected.

Good point.

Will take the heat and humidity anytime over brutal snowy cold weather

Hallowell, ME

I understand the mountains of Costa Rica maintains 70 degree temps year round. If you want a state with low taxes check out Arkansas (at least it used to be). The Ozarks are nice. NC does offer some nice apps too. My experiences with Oahu (6 months) was the cost of living. I never experienced humidity there too much. I got bored after awhile. Did have some nice bars and restraunts. Of course that was back in the days of 66/67. If you really want inexpensive, nice weather and good food I'd say the Med coast of Spain.

I would love to garden year round....Louise has the best of both worlds......

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Awwww, thanks, Robin! I especially love the time we spend in NH. I've lived in NC and did like the mild winters with some snow, but the summer humidity can be tough. My sister lives in the NC mountains, and that's hard to beat. They have some snow, but mostly it melts quickly and in the mountains the summers are nice. We spent our summers there throughout our childhood, and the first time I came to our NH farm, it made me feel like I was back in the NC mountains. We stop to see my sister and her husband going and coming north and south, and it is always pleasant.

Thomaston, CT

That sounds nice, Louise....I've only been to the coast, & while I loved the Outer Banks, I was there in late Sept.

We actually declared independence on July 2nd!!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

But it took 2 days for the horseman to deliver the message..
- Actually it wasn't ratified by Congress until the 4th.

Army Doc looks well for his age.

Hallowell, ME

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)
