Hi--
I have 4 cantaloupe vine that by all signs are healthy and thriving. The plants were started indoors in early March, and were transplanted to containers outdoors in early April (and brought indoors during any cold spells). The vines are about 4-5 feet long, and have been in bloom for over a month, but there are no female flowers forming. How long do the vines flower before female flowers begin to appear? Any help is appreciated!

Cantaloupe not growing female flowers
This is most likely a long shot, but it could be a variety that is especially sensitive to long periods of daylight (non day-neutral in regards to the photoperiod, I believe). I know where I live it's something I have to watch out for. It maybe that as the nights get longer you will get more females or you can find something impermiable to light in which to cover them with at late afternoon or so. Supposedly doing so for a few weeks will trick the plant. Like I said, a long shot as I'm not an expert or anything but I hope it helps.
Well, it turns out I just wasn't patient enough. About a week after posting, I fed the plants, and within two days females were popping up all over! At last count, I have 14 fertilized flowers!
