cut stems on zuchuni and summer squash

Hot Springs National, AR(Zone 7a)

What could be cutting the soft stems on my summer squash and zuchini? The blossoms fall to the ground and are not eaten or disturbed. Don't see any damage to stems, just looks like they have been surgically cut and blossoms drop to the ground. I've sprayed twice with proper level of liquid Sevin (1 teaspoon per gallon) ; once 10 days ago, and the second time , yesterday June 8th. Don't see any caterpillers but do see small ants around bases of plants. I have 4 cukes, 4 summer squash and 4 zucc all planted in a row next to each other. All squash suffer cut stems but cukes are ok and blooms are fine. Already have harvested a dozen cukes. Not all stems on squash are cut. , maybe 4 of 10 are ok and have produced fruit/ Thanks for any tips.

Sounds like a critter not an insect problem

Maybe cutworms, but otherwise I'd suspect a critter as well. Can you post some pictures of the damage?

I:ll try to get pics and post them tomorrow but will have to learn how. My wife usually takes all the pictures in this family. Thanks
