Garden Projects #5
I didn't realize that you had added steps. Lillies are looking good.
I didn't know there were steps, either....nice....
great walkway.
Jan
Looks great, Jo!
Louise, I have the same problem of planting things too close together, then later they have to be rearranged.
Marilyn, I have many hostas crying out to be divided as well. Last week I divided a huge clump of Striptease. It is a big job. It needs a new home now, as it was in too much sun where it was after the birches had to be cut down. Was starting to get sunburned. It was also getting too crowded in there. Striptease is a very large hosta!
Karen
Striptease should be planted with pole beans.
HAJAHaHA!!!!!!! Very Good, Victor!!!!!
Grooooooaaaan.
that's what he said
;)
What a lovely job on the walkway, JoAnn! I like the way the steps came out. The plantings on both sides complete it perfectly.
that looks great joann!
Thanks everyone. I wish I had 2 more areas like it on that garden.I need something better than what I have now. This area is 75 feet long so I have a couple of pass thru areas but they arent as formal as this.
Too many bucks but a nice walk half way down would make some trips easier.
Go for it!
Easy to say Marilyn. My Garden mad money is all gone for this year.
Mine too!! :). I'm at my son's now and he and I went on a buying jaunt for him today. He's getting as bad as I am! Got him a cool bonsai. He wants to learn about them I think he's getting hooked! LOL
Mine is gone, too! Although I'm still looking for chocolate mint....Louise, bonsai is a fascinating hobby....wouldn't you love to try a JM?
Robin I have Chocolate Mint...let me try to root you a piece. :)
I love the sound of chocolate mint! It should be an edible. :)
Thanks, Pixie! I put a few leaves in a pitcher of water in the fridge...very refreshing...
Very nice walkway, Jo.
Mmmmm chocolate mint.
Now, I know that doesn't look "huge", but what you see is only the tip of the iceberg. Actually, huge may have been an overstatement, but it was all relative for me to try to remove it myself. :) It turned out to be a nice flat stone that fit perfectly on top of the wall in front of it.
Great job, Louise.....be sure to hide it from Bill!
NICE
LOL! Victor, I love you comment about Striptease and pole beans. Too funny!
Marilyn, when you mentioned you were looking for chocolate mint, I at first thought you meant the coleus by that name. I'm confused. Is that what you were looking for, or a mint plant that is chocolate mint. Don't even know if there is such a thing. That's a really pretty coleus.
Great, Louise! Can't wait to see it. Where's Bill when you need him?
I'm on 2 wks vacation, like I usually do this time of year. Been getting lots of weeding done. The weeded areas are looking great. Wish they would stay that way the rest of the year. Here are some pics of the areas where I weeded.
Karen
Looks like that's all the pics I got of the newly weeded area. Will take more tomorrow. Today I got the veggie bed done. Not much is in there this year. A butternut squash plant and some other squashes that I don't know what they are. Maybe pumpkins. And the rhubarb.
Karen
I just yanked a bunch of those.... ☺ I have bunch of other weedy looking things growing I want to wait to see what they turn in to.
I'm getting to like some of the wildflowers (weeds) that are growing in my gardens. I've always liked the wild verbascums, but now it's the fleabane, too. I also happen to like those white wild campion and kiss-me-over-the-garden-gate. Oh, and pokeweed, though I wouldn't want much of it. Once established it's amazingly difficult to dig out. Roots are huge and go down to China!!!!!!
Karen
Oh, I forgot to add common milkweed to that list.
Karen
If I had a bigger "wild" area I'd probably leave some more weeds but they seem to pop up where they def do not look good, I do leave some wild violets in my tiny woodland area and left 2 milkweed but they aren't thriving at all where they are(no sign of flowers)
Still waiting on this guy to bloom to def confirm Joe Pye Weed
I love Joe Pye Weed. I have several nice clumps of it.
Karen
Looking good everybody.
Oh, thanks for asking, DB. We are back in Portland OR vor a couple of days. We've been here for 2 weeks. But, in that time we went to Cannon Beach on the coast (from the Goonies movie), central Oregon, which we loved and are investigating possible real estate options. On Saturday we went up to Buckley, WA for a small round-up of DGers. It was very nice to put faces with names.
On Wednesday we are heading toward Yellowstone. the trip home is more spontaneous. Jeff mentioned Going to Dinosaur something. We'll be extra cautious in Yellowstone, since a bear killed someone last week.
Did they catch the bear?
I find it so funny, that my sis is out there the same time you are. She's in Medford.
Not that I know. She was protecting her cubs. First fatality by bear since 1986 I read somewhere. Jeff is rethinking camping there.
Nice job Louise.
I see you can still garden on your knees. I admire that hosta hole.
The renovated area looks really nice.
Lovely pictures, Karen.
The people attacked by the bear were hiking. Camp areas might be safer but don't you have to sign up for those in advance?
