In a Sunset Magazine, there is an article about berries to decorate your garden in the fall. There is a picture of a Harlequin glorybower with a beautiful red star and in the middle of the star is a blue berry. It is a shrub or smallish tree, apparently. Can anyone tell me more about this?
Will a Harlequin glorybower live in zone 5?
Hardiness Zones: 6 to 9
Height: 8 ft Spread: 5 ft Form: upright
Type: deciduous shrub
Annual Growth Rate: more than 18 inches
Flowers: White
Fruit: Blue
Comments: This shrub will die to the ground each winter in
cold climates. The main ornamental traits are the white,
tubular flowers. These are followed by bright blue fruit
which are surrounded by a red calyx. The plant forms
clumps of upright stems.
Gorgeous tree-shrub!! We hope to get one in the spring!
Thank you Larkie and tiG.
psssssssst you can send it to me-im in zone 6! ;]

I have the glorybower, and you will have all you want when you get one. I'm not sure if it's spreading by seed or roots, but I pull them up and discard them, I've had so many come up in that one spot. Mine looks more pink and blue. It is very unique looking. Kinda have to hunt for the flowers at first, they are very small, but do bloom in a cluster.
Well if your ever digging and tossing-Id be more than willing to recieve! ;] Let me know and maybe would could make trade! =]

here too!!!!!
I saw a small one today, but I guess you had rather wait until spring? If you want it now, that's okay by me. Dori, you first, then I'll look to see if there are any others hidden beneath the larger ones tiG. If not, I'm sure there will be plenty more in the spring. You might better remind me though, both of you if you don't get them now. I tend to have those "senior moments" (I'm only 48).
gingerlily, if you find another baby, we will be warm here for a while. scattered frosts, but I can keep it sheltered, just let me know so I could send postage. Senior moments, what are those??? oh yeah! I remember now:)
Wow-can you believe this-Id be glad to have it when ever you feel its ready for travel-If its spring- i will carve this trade in my desk so I dont forget!
THANKZ SO MUCH
