Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

having my evening cocktail.. was a nice day.. chicken was rockin.. I used budweiser honey bbq sauce .. but everyone commented on how moist it was off the grill... and wanted to know what herbs I used.. when I told them to brine it.. they all wrote down how to do it.. gotta love it

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Did a whole chicken?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

nope pounded boneless skinless breasts

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Sounds yummy! I too love Wholly Guacamole.:)

We had chicken & dumplings of course and for dessert we had "Brownie Yum-Yums".

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

the pies were kick butt as always... she is good!!.. pretty lattice top too

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

I'm yum-yumming just thinking about the Brownies...

Rib-eye steaks on the grill with ½ baked potato each, plenty of steamed asparagus and avocado to go with it.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You brined the cutlets, Allison?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yep.. just like the turkey.. gallon of water, cup of kosher salt, cup of brown sugar.. rosemary, thyme, oregano overnight in the fridge in my spaghetti pot .. pat em dry before .. rub with evoo.. and grill away.. they were sooo moist and yummy

German restaurant, have to watch foods with gluten now, lots of sauces and gravies use flour to thicken it so I ended up with filet mignon....oh my gosh it was soooo good. The owner hangs out in the dining room greeting all the guests, we've been there a bunch of times so he told me to call the next time we were coming and he'd try to prepare more gluten free foods, he lets us taste test stuff...our fav place 3 of our party ordered sauerbraten but he ran out, he said he had 2 left but they didn't come out to his standards and didn't want to serve it to us, gotta love the honesty.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yes always great to get hooked up at a place like that

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You have a gluten problem, Jen?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yes, about a year per my metabolic typing I changed the foods I ate and I felt great, I starting cheating because I missed baked goods and ice cream too much, but started feeling bad again and started doing an elimination test. Went off of gluten for 3 days, day 4 had some pasta with dinner, the only wheat I had all day within an hour I was feeling horrible, extremely bloated(actually looked pregnant) and needed an immediate nap. Stopped eating it and I feel wonderful!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow. I'd die without pasta!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

my sisters tummy gets like that with garlic.. even just crackers with garlic in the flavor will do it

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

They do have rice or corn pasta

SOOOO funny, we do community time after church sometimes there's a huge spread other times very simple(like last night)
My friend and I were reading the label on a guacamole "flavored" dip....real guac has what? 6 ingredients, tops??? this had like 30 and didn't have avacados!!!! EWWWWW

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Like 'cheese food'!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

just imagine how many ingredients are in that easy cheese in a can.. LOL

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

So nasty!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

A coworker has celiac disease, and through her, I've learned how much wheat is in everything. Even meds. Processed deli meat too. She recently went to Italy and could eat much more because of less processed foods.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I assume it's used as a binder or something?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

thickener in most cases

Thomaston, CT

Just like corn syrup is in many processed foods....I try to stay away from it as much as I can.......

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Now they're trying to fool people into thinking 'cane sugar' is so much better than high fructose corn syrup.

Where is this brinning receipe please

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

It's up above.

OK I am blind, where is it? I see hotdogs, primerib and pizza.

I know Allison posted that :-) I want the whole one with the turkey :-)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Exactly the same!

There is no measurements :-(

Oh well I slapped the pieces of the bird in some salt and sugar. Threw in some spices. Cant see using nothing as that can harm chicken pieces. This is going to be quite interesting.

The saga will continue ???????

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

sorry Sherrie... use the same measurements.. only make 2 or 3 batches for a big turkey... the cooler I use takes 4 batches of the brine... depending on your container size... and bird size.. just make sure it's covered... and if you want you can add some oranges & lemons to the water as well... I just take a bunch .. cut em in 1/2 and toss em in

Allison dont worry, it comes out it does if it dont well Mr G will get it :-) and if he spits it out then there is a downer.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

TV kielbasi, potato salad and gluten free mac and cheese(Annie's, made from rice pasta)

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

½ oven roasted turkey breast, baked sweet potato, Jellied cranberry sauce.
