Why can't I get marigolds to bloom?

Montgomery, TX

Bought a tray a while back and put some in lg pot w/miracle grow potting soil, others in well prepared bed. Lots of green but few blooms. Bed is in full sun, lg pot partial sun.

You may just need to give them a little more time--plants will always work on getting their roots going first, then they'll put out top growth, then they'll bloom. Also make sure you're not giving them too much high nitrogen fertilizer since that can stimulate lots of green growth at the expense of blooms.

I use miracle grow time release - plants look great just no flowers.

The time release fertilizers don't usually give you the problems with too much nitrogen so I'd suggest in that case they just need a bit more time.
