My wisteria is almost 9 yrs old now. and has yet to bloom , But seem to be growing wildly and I cut it down to 5 buds last spring, and also root trimmed it. But it just is takeing over and yet to bloom. Any suggestions?
what to do with my wisteria
Here are a few common reasons why wisteria fail to bloom...see if any of these fit.
--Pruned too late in the year (they bloom on old wood, so pruning too late in the fall or too early in the spring could eliminate flowers)
--Not getting enough sun
--Grown from seed (rather than from cuttings). Seed grown wisteria can take 10+ yrs before they bloom; cutting grown ones should bloom sooner than that
--Too much water/fertilizer can stimulate lots of green growth at the expense of blooms
