Blooms 2011 #6

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Hubby never noticed my dwarf iris blooming, must have 7 different ones. Will have to get some pictures if it ever stops raining. I think I need a TP. ^_^

TP's are so beautiful.

I begin to realize there is a bloom gap between late spril tulips and dwarf iris and end of May. Things are just starting. Its exciting.
See you Thursday.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

very nice blooms all!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I did pretty well with tulips this year and have had something blooming non stop. Just confirmed I'll see you Thursday.

Prairie Moon peony - a nice surprise in the rose garden since I had forgotten I planted it two years ago.

That is a nice peony....mine are budded, no blooms yet......love that dark agastache, Pixie....Rama, very pretty rose!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Celeste giving it a haircut won't hurt it.. will just delay blooms though.. I know mine here.. are floppy because of lack of sun.. and so glad we have the awning open partially to keep them dry.. they will get full and beautiful once the hot sun hits them... usually either way... either by cutting them back or letting them be floppy now.. I usually just put a stake in them so they don't break when they are weak .. I usually get that for a while once i put the overwintered ones out.. but if you do cut them... they will branch out more

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

OK, with no sun it's really floppy. Figured it was still early so maybe give it a haircut. :)

Peony karl Rosenfeldt. It is a hot pink/ raspberry color not quite fragrant as the old fashioned varieties.

Lovely Rama! I'm now kicking myself in the butt for not buying Eye of the Tiger....had it in the cart and then removed it! WHY DID I DO THAT??!!!!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

love the Julia Child!!!

Malvern, PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Celeste. I select so many in the cart and delete them when I look at the totals that I have to hide from Anand as well.
I want the iphone camera to zoom and have macro option.

Pretty reliable bloomer. From last year, fragrant and fades to buttery cream yellow.

That last picture of Eye of the Tiger looks like the stripe is glowing. Amazing!

Very pretty, Rama...love all the iris that you & Pixie have blooming right now.....

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Everything looking great,Rama....you are so far ahead of me, sure you're not zone 7?

Malvern, PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Weeze and Marilyn. They are actually dutch iris- eye of tiger, waiting for purple sensation and delft blue to bloom, now in buds. Got them from Bert and Ingrid end of last season.

Malvern, PA(Zone 6b)

I wish I were in zone 7 which would mean I can keep the trops outside. Interestingly I thought I am behind with your blooms.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

I'm a z7, if I leave trops outside they die, which is why I have few trops. I don't like bringing plants in. I prefer to garden within nature's confines, even though some trops are total eye candy.

Malvern, PA(Zone 6b)

I come from India where there are three seasons- hot, hotter and hottest. I grew up with tropicals, tulips were novelty. I have a sunroom where I keep two lemon trees, a bunch of jasmines, curry leaf, banana tree, plumerias, gardenias, bromeliad, anthurium and overwinter the other annuals that I want to protect. needless to say it is aphid palace that I constantly clean with neem oil.

Nice!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

looks like a nice relaxing spot Rama

Malvern, PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks, love the room, has 20 feet ceiling and the sun is on your face for the cold February days. Our kids and the puppy fight to see who sits there.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I would too!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Rama, which do you prefer, generally..the year round tropical heat or the change of seasons? As much as I dislike winter, I appreciate it for the joy of spring.
