Urgent: My Small Delonix Regia Condition (Please Respond)

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Dear Dave's Garden,

I recently bought a "Delonix Regia" online from "Plumeria Gallery" for my Mom on
"Mother's Day." I only had the Delonix Regia for two days and the leaves are turning
yellow rapidly. Could someone tell me what I need to do prevent the " Delonix Regia"
leaves from rapidly spreading on the whole tree? Do I need to be feeding the
"Delonix Regia" some plant food? Would someone tell me if the leaves are suppose to
be drooped? Please respond soon. Thank you for taking the time, patience, and
understanding regarding this email.
Sincerely,
Kevin

info in Plant files says it needs full sun and is drought tolerant. Is it in full sun? is it being overwatered?

There are a few possibilities...first thing I'd do is check on your watering. Too much or too little water could both cause those symptoms. Also, if you took it right out of the box and plopped it in full sun that could have stressed it--when it's been in a box for a few days during shipping it helps to put the plant somewhere shady for a few days and then gradually move it to a sunnier area. And lastly, if you had to repot the plant when you got it or if you planted it in the ground you likely disturbed its roots in the process, so it could just be going through a bit of transplant shock. I would definitely NOT fertilize it at this point--let it get over whatever is stressing it first before you think about feeding it.

Excellent advice there Kevin. The first year is the hardest for establishing trees in the landscape.

Here is some general info on care, etc. for you.
