I have an Arabian Lilac Vitex trifolia 'Purpurea'. I would like to know what the best time of year to prune it is?
Also, I'm learning the art of bonsai, and thought this would be a lovely plant to try it with. It has a well established trunk and I was wondering if I cut it back to the trunk (at the right time of year) would it eventually have new growth? Or would this be a cruel risk for this pretty little tree?
Sorry to anyone who is against bonsai... I can understand why (I've seen images of those who have left wire in too long etc) but don't worry I worship my plants and would never do anything that would harm them.
