Hi everyone~
I have a lot of gardening space on a slope and the plants that I have planted for the past 3 years are coming in beautifully. But since it is a large area I am finding things that I did not plant and I am beginning to wonder if they are weeds or invasive plants. Please help! This first pictures is virigated grass that i am not crazy about but what is that vine plant with the long oval leaves? It has purple flowers too?
Thanks,
rae

Sally~
Thank you very much!!! If you look at some of my past threads you can see my two sloped hills that my plants are on. Do you think I should remove some or all of these plants? Are they invasive or a nuance?
Thanks for all your help!
Wow- I just found one thread--great work you've done there!
Everything I gave a name to--(oops that one is supposed to say Vetch also, not Betch!) are common not very attractive and or too aggressive for their looks wild things that I would remove. Ater the garden is established a while you will start getting good volunteers, but not yet! Given the bigger picture of the bed I would expect that 2 and 5 that I couldn't name are probably 'weeds' too, unless they look exactly like something you planted.
By the way, you called something tiger lilies , and asked about lack of bloom, but there may be a 'common name' problem going on there. Did those things with the very long arched strappy/ grassy leaves ever bloom for you?
Hello all,
I'm recently retired and want to get more into gardening. I have started with a number of perennials a few years ago. Unfortunately, I have little skill at identifying things that begin to grow in the spring, so I am uncertain if some of these are things I planted or accidental plantings (weeds?). I have included pictures of two items that seem to be trying to take over sections of my garden. Can you please help me identify them and advise if I should keep and control or eliminate them? Thanks.
WJ
Hi WJ
First one I can't place.
Second one is marsh marigold or something close. I have tons of that and its appeared on Plant ID forum recently. Second one will try to take over. after this spring bloom it dies back to roots for the summer. The answer then is you should probably TRY to eliminate #2 from any actual garden bed, or it will take over.
You should take #1 , possibly get another pic in focus, and post it on the Plant ID forum here
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/plantid/all/
and add #2 while you're at it , in your same thread as you did here. You'll get answered quickly.
Only saying this all because you may not get noticed adding it to this thread. Hope this helps!
Hey Sally~
The long things that wouldn't bloom are tiger lilies. I pulled them out of my mother's garden a few years ago. They did eventually bloom but I did have to separate them!
Thanks for all your help!! Time to go pull all of my weeds!! :)
