Weather in Your Garden # 96

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

can we grow olives next to it?

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Yes, that would be nice, I'll need to get an olive press to make olive oil too! ☺

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Dang, I'm hungry now!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

51 now going to 71... finally feel good about hardening off my coleus!!!

Mid-Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5b)

I'm looking for an ice cream bush myself. Maybe a hot fudge plant to go with it.

We put in the bean plants yesterday at the school garden but held off on the tomatoes(ran out of time actually.) In the back of my mind I'm remembering something about 50 degree nights. We're still in the low 40s at night. Should I put them out and wrap them? I don't know.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

if the roots get cold they might sulk .. I am not putting mine in yet

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Not here either...i've got another 2 - 3 weeks before I dare to stick anything out.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Rain predicted, and we actually need it.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Its very humis and the BartletPears in bloom make it almost nauseating.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I loved when I stepped out of the car and it smelled so good yesterday!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Its not so good today. That oder mixed with brewed coffe has an amonia edge, not lovely I can tell you.
I can almost tell the blooms are beginning to rot.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Oh, what a beautiful morning!

It's 53, sunny and so beautiful. The color contrasts are so glorious.

All the new coleuses and caladiums will have to stay inside until the nights get warmer, as will the tomatoes and other vegetables that want 55 degrees for the soil temperature.

FYI - The US so far this year has had, 5 - 1 billion dollars or over a billion dollar disasters. Flood, tornados etc. I keep saying strange things are happening.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

great day today - was hard to get in the car to go to work

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

It's been a lovely morning to be out, wearing pajamas, feeding the birds and giving them fresh water. It's just so peaceful out there!

Thomaston, CT

It's presently 57, & mostly cloudy....had to drop the airedale off for his haircut....they moved up the road apiece....he was so puzzled...same folks, new building!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Cloudy and 58. Want to get the Deer Resistant order in the ground before the weekend rain.

Thomaston, CT

Yes, I want to plant a few things so they get the benefit.....guess I'll do it later today, as I'm heading out to lunch later, & don't want to be grubby......

South Hamilton, MA

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Lucy - one of the very nicest tours of gardens we've ever taken was on a day with showers. Have fun, enjoy and don't let any showers dampen your mood.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Mostly cloudy all day 71° right now

Mid-Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5b)

Mostly cloudy all day, 65 here. No rain just yucky.

Thomaston, CT

Enjoy the tour, Iris. Jumper, can't believe the hail....just nasty! Cloudy & sprinkly all day today, but I managed to plant & mow the inside area of my veggie garden...the guys can't get their mowers in there, my weed whacker bit the dust.....

South Hamilton, MA

Any showers will come when we are doing the 2 hr judges training. I do have a poncho. thank you for your good wishes.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

56°, cloudy, going down to 47° tonight.

Did a lot of work in the back yard today, cleaning, transplanting, cleaning, pruning, cleaning, planting there's a redundant theme in there somewhere...

Got some serious planting to do tomorrow am then I'm off to the opening of some gallery works by a friend who is an accomplished Hollywood movie animation artist, (long job title..), in Riverhead it's by invitation only, so I'll have to find something to wear that's cool and trendy like sneakers with a jacket or something and a propeller beanie cap..

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Rainy forecast for the next week!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

Good, I can use the rain and the lack of sun for awhile until the new plants get settled in a bit.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I want to see a pic of you in the beanie cap

Thomaston, CT

Have fun, WC.....very cloudy right now, showers predicted for ever......

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

58°, cloudy. Going to 64° with showers starting later tonight.

lol! - I've had that prop. beanie cap for years now, I bought it when I lived in Fla. Every now and then I wear it on occasions where you first meet people in a casual, friendly setting. - 'Instant ice breaker', cuts through all that preliminary mumbo, jumbo stuff and people open up, starts people smiling laughing and talking, etc..
- you know, increases 'approachability' instead of all that stuffy on guard stuff.. (I won't wear it today though, I don't want to distract attention from the host.. although I wish I could just for fun. ☺)

South Hamilton, MA

48° & cloudy. Showers predicted for tonight & tomorrow

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

nice day to work outside today - moved all the dirt and finsihed a very large new bed and planted/transplanted a bunch of stuff - tomorrow rain or shine i will be planting again.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

we had a great time at the MA swap at Teri's .... just a few sprinkles now and then... but her set up was perfect.. tables in the garage and 2 tents for plants... and Michele offered to host one at her house this fall if we want

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

57°, cloudy rain on the way..

Got back from the Riverhead thing, it was nice, there was a film documentary crew there and a newspaper photographer, it had a Beatles theme. One of their song writers was there, as was the artist friend who is famous for Mr Magoo, Frosty the snowman, ( w/Burl Ives), Rudolph the red .. the last unicorn, and a bunch of other animated movies.. Came back and finished the day off by planting an azalea after the tree and the crepe myrtle this am. - So now I'm chillin'! (lol)

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

woke up and it's pouring ... bummer man.. looks like 5 days of rain just stinks!!.. 58 now going to 70

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Raining here too, glad im leaving for the week of rain. Thundershowers are expected daily in VA/DC but I won't melt! LOL

Mid-Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 5b)

Yesterday was grey and cloudy, but at least not raining. Went to two plant sales (farm project and master gardener) then to a memorial service. Worked outside for two hours in the evening. Put in the tomatoes and peppers because it won't happen if I don't. Bummer.

Today is pouring rain and have to take my mother out. Oh well.

Rain all week forecast here, but night time temperatures are supposed to be above 50
.

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)
