Cilantro doesn't grow well while basil grows abundantly

Forest Hills, NY

Hi,

In the last couple of years I've planted basil in pots on my porch. It grows abundantly.

I've planted cilantro and it doesn't do well. What would help it or what does it need?

thanks,

Cilantro puts down a long taproot which means it needs deep soil to perform well. In containers it needs a tall pot so it can root properly. It also does not transplant well because of the taproot.

cilantro alo needs a little shade. If it gets too hot it will bolt and you will have corriander.
