I have several beautiful, old Peony's and this year as I was staking them I noticed a brown/black edge on the leaves. The new buds are swarming with ants and seem to be healthy, but the discoloration on the leaves concerns me. Is it dangerous or anyone know what causes this? Many thanks, happy gardening!
Peony help, please!
The ants cause no harm nor benefit, and are only collecting the sweet excretions from the bud.
The brown leaf edges could be due to frost if you've had any since the plants emerged.
