LOL!! I'm a night worker and it amazes me how many people post in the wee hours of the morning. It's natural for my sleep to be screwed up all the time. What's your excuse? Am I gonna be the last one up tonight?
Hey! - Don't you people ever sleep???
Poppysue, I didn't ever need an excuse for being a night owl, so I won't mention that I don't sleep well until the sun comes up. I have noticed there is never a time of day or night when there isn't someone posting here. I like that, as it makes me feel a little less weird. Have a good evening, or morning.
I'm a night owl, but get up about 7. I actually was almost in the bed, and remembered that I only ironed 4 uniforms Monday and there are 5 days in DH's schedule (thank heavens I remembered!!)
So of course, my computer is on the way back to the bedroom and I had to check everything new out:)
but Poppysue, I'll leave you to turn out the lights before you go to bed!!! nightie night!!
Working nights for the last 15 years I've always longed for a day job so I could just sleep normally. I like being a night owl... but I hate to sleep the days away. Just wish there was a happy medium. Actually - I wish I didn't need sleep....
But now it is 40 minutes to noon here. Yea, I have noticed that people are up even at 1.30 or 2 in the night and again some are up by half past four in the morning! Incredibly amazing. Are you posting a challenge here, Pops?
You got me beet Dinu. I'll be passing out before too long! It's 2:04 AM here.
I have been tempted to file a class action suit on behalf of those of us who naturally function better at night. I have always been forced to endure sleep deprivation in order to meet my responsibilities and still have the necessary time for myself. I, too, have wished I didn't need to sleep.
I know what you mean Aimee. I think all the businesses should be open all night - so we can run our errands then. Most places don't open until 9 or 10 in the morning around here... When I get out of work at 7 am - I certainly don't want to wait around for a few hours for stores to open.
Aimee & Poppysue, I'm with you. My natural cycle puts me in bed around 3:30 or 4 a.m. ... sometimes later. I'd sleep till around noon and then enjoy the rest of the day... but the world doesn't work that way so I have to try and adjust to the day people's world.
I just got BACK up because I'm too keyed up to sleep.
Some say if you can't sleep the Lord wants to tell you something... I wonder if it's true?
Whatever, I'm up.
Enjoy!
Love
Janie
<{{{:><
Gosh, Janie, I knew there was a reason! Since I think more clearly in the wee hours, I know He was just accomodating me by saving the information I needed until I was ready to receive it clearly. I just wonder why He saddled me with night-blindness. (Probably because He wanted my undivided attention, and knew the garden would prove to be a distraction).
I work till one, so I'm usally up till three sometimes four. I am a night owl but I do love the mornings. I miss getting up early but not going to bed early. I get so much more sleep working second shift than I did first. On first shift I would always stay up late and only get 5 or so hours of sleep. Now I can stay up late and still get 8 hours. I get up anywhere in between 10 and 12.
Ok ... It's 3 oclock now. I've done enuff reading, enuff chatting, and asked enuff stupid questions. I'm off to bed.
G'nite All!
Am I the winner.
In your dreams!
LOL I'm trying. Will see.
Well Aimee, I'm going to bed. If your still here your the champ. If not I win WHOOO HOOOO.
I'm the winner!!! Yea for grandma!!! But I should be in bed, so I can make it to the lab and post office tomorrow. So many posts, so little time...
Bahahahahahahah...I beat you ALL! I am still awake and posting! Baahahahahahahahaha, the master! I never see 7am anymore unless I'm *still up* or if I'm groggily turning over in bed and happen to hear the birds singing before I zonk back out.
DH already headed to bed, and those oh-so-comfy flannel sheets (and my earplugs!) await me, but I'm waiting for my decongestant to kick in so I can stand to lie down. Hope I don't get a second (or third, or fourth) wind!
GW, it's easier for us, because we are built to stay up with babies. I, too, take allergy and pain stuff and then wait for it to kick in. Of course, I'll just take a last look at DG while I wait.
Hey, GW, I'm going to grind some beans and make a small pot of joe. Need a snack to get me through, and there are still so many posts I haven't read. Be back in 10, don't doze off.
I'm not quite ready to doze off, but I'm not making any coffee! Do you have AOL IM, Yahoo IM or MSNM? I'm Gardenwife92 on them. :o)
I have IM, but don't ever have it on. I don't type fast enough, and it gets in the way of reading other things. I guess I still have ICQ, two numbers, but they sent so much filth from there, and I'm not sure I ever used either messenger on this computer, would have to look for old notes to find userid on either for the messengers. Wow, I'm impressed, someone as bad as me on here. Are we nuts or what? Coffee is very relaxing to me, oddly enough.
Howie can drink three cups of strong coffee and still it will not phase him. I have one or two cups in the evening (aka 10pm or so, LOL) and I am up for quite a while, or sleep restlessly. I dropped ICQ, too, because of the weirdos sending all kinds of junk. I like Yahoo a lot and have voice chatted with Lisa and Elena from DG (not at the same time - we'd blow the circuits!).
I do like my coffee strong, and fresh. Doesn't bother me at all, but let me drink plain old tea after dark, and I'm up for the night and maybe the next night as well. During chemo, I lost my taste buds, and it was really strange not to like coffee. My granddarling likes to chew the beans. She's four and has liked black coffee since she was about 5 months old and wrested a cup from my hand. Guess it's some of that good Louisiana blood.
LOL, probably! Does she prefer just plain coffee, or does she like hers with chickory? My mom is a cancer survivor, too - breast cancer, 5 years ago this last August! :oD Her hair came back in the same color as before chemo, only a little finer, I think. Another friend's came back in white as snow. Funny how that happens, isn't it?
We don't use chicory. In fact, I don't know anybody who does. An Austin coffee roaster has Italian Espresso beans that I use, and Granddarling lately decided she also likes a pecan flavored bean. I decided to reinstall IM so we didn't use this forum as a chat, but apparently it was never on this computer or I succeeded in wiping it out completely. (Chemo brain doesn't recall much). But I am going to your page to email you. Then I will tell you about my hair.
You've got mail! Did you know AIM has a web-based version of Instant Messenger? http://www.aol.com/aim/aimexpress.html
EARLY TO BED AND EARLY TO RISE,
MAKES A MAN HEALTHY, WEALTHY AND WISE.
Omigosh, everyone here seems to have been completely unaware of this old proverb! They are putting those feathered owls to shame ;) Someone think of its opposite and it suits to this bunch of folks, nay, owls. Hurry. ;~}
My spousal unit is a true night owl. When he worked days, he still reverted back to a nightowl every weekend and on vacation. When we went into business for ourselves with a fine crafts shop ( he was the resident potter), he became a permanent nightowl. Now, following a couple of heart attacks, he gets up at the crack of noon, works around until after supper and then takes about a 2-hour nap. Then he's up from about 9 P.M. until about 4 A.M. So he built that new pond mostly at night.
I guess they're all nigh-nigh now....hmmmm.
I'm up. Just having my second cup of java ... and ingnoring the mountain of laundry I need to do before I go back to work tonight.
I'm still awake!!!! LOL
Poppy I know that sleep pattern as well. I work nights and didn't have much problem sleeping when I was off until the terrorist incident. Now if I get 3 hours sleep I am doing good. I don't conciously think about the incident but I guess that it is bothering me. I am a family person and think alot about the world and what it holds for my offsprings. I saw another posting of yours and you mentioned you worked at night and I wondered how you kept the beautiful yard that you post pictures of. I never feel good enough to do a lot. I am a good planner but a horrible doer. LOL Jim
Well - Jim. Remember that thread..."Neat garden - Messy House"? That's me to a T. Like I said I'm waiting for that laudry to jump into the washing machine and wash itself. I find I don't get a lot done during the day time either. But - I loose myself in my garden. Once I drag my behind outside I'm there until it starts getting dark. Then when I come in and sit down for a minute I realize how tired I am. Too tired to make dinner usually. Good thing I don't have kids! DH on the other hand likes to be neglected - It gives him more play time.
LOL, dont mean to burst your alls bubbles, but sometime sleeplessness can be attributed to a lack of calcium/magnesium....just an idea. I know I certaainly like to stay up late myself, but the newspaper route will not allow for that! Valerian works wonders too. My husband had very restless sleep, and because of his weird hours of retail mangament...he doesnt get the proper wind down time either. I get much better slepp when he takes his valerian!
Well, I'm the opposite of ya'll - if I'm not in bed by 11 CT(and that's LATE) there's something really wrong. I could easily go to bed by 9:30 every night if it weren't for TV shows I like to watch. And then I want to catch the news or at least the weather. I'm up by 6:30 at the latest to get kids ready for school. I love springtime when I tend to wake up around 5 or 5:30 every morning :)
If ya'll ever catch me posting after 12 am (DG Time) you'll know I must be having a once-in-a-blue-moon insomnia attack.
Me too, GV. Up at 6 am, hubby to work, kids to school....a little computer time at my various sites...off computer by 6 pm, and then it's time for the family.
"eyes"
Out here on the west coast we are 3 hours behind the official DG time. So when I post at 9 or 10 at night it is posted as the wee hours of the next day. The only time I am a night owl is during lambing season when I am out checking for new babies in the middle of my night, then I post awhile until I get sleepy.
Poppysue, you are not alone. Although I only work seasonally, I usually work the night shift. I prefer it because the big bosses are home sleeping and I can get my job done according to plan without any distractions. Plus shopping at night is a breeze - you rarely have to wait in line and the sale items are readily available.
MaryE, I'm with you! My watch says 9:50 PM (AZ time which is the same as CA time until the last Sunday of this month), but it is 12:50 AM DG TIME! My last word on the matter...Goodnight to the last one up...will you please close the gate when you go out? Jo
