Flowering wetland plants

My back yard was a wetland. With all the rain KY has had the last month, I have two shallow ponds back there. I'd like some color and need to know of perennials that would thrive in soil that is often soggy and hard as concrete when there's a drought. I'd also like to know what bushes, such as the vitex, chaste tree, that would thrive there. Mostly, I need color.

Perhaps this site will be of use to you...the Bluegrass Raingarden has lists of native to KY plants and trees that thrive in wetland areas.
