yoshino cherry not blooming

Caldwell, NJ(Zone 7a)

Hi I have a 6 ft tall yoshino cherry, it gets sun most of the day. When I first bought it that summer it got a disease (which i dont remember) of some kind which i treated and it cleared up. I transplanted it the next year since it did not seem to be doing well. Now 2 yrs later it still is not flowering. Is it too much trauma? Any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks Anthony

Here's some information on the Yoshino cherry: http://www.ehow.com/about_5340973_yoshino-cherry-tree-diseases.html

It really does not address the non-flowering problem, but it appears that a number of stresses will affect blossom production. It may take a couple of years for it to pull out of the problem.

As long as it's healthy and is getting enough sun I'd be patient--as melody said stress can take a little while to recover from. Many trees will take a few years to bloom after they've been transplanted, and the fact that yours had a disease before it was transplanted means it had to recover from that too so it wouldn't surprise me if it takes a couple years.

I planted a Yoshino Cherry tree two years ago and I've yet to see a bloom from it either. It is also six feet tall and gets full sun. It has never had any type of disease and appears to be very healthy. I'm just trying to be patient.
