Lets see new lilies sprouting #2

Duluth, GA(Zone 7b)

Another set of lilies that are about to pop. Can't wait to see the color so that I can label these plants. I believe they are Aurora Borealis, time will tell.

Leaning tower of Monte Negro in the back, they''ve all leaned forward toward the sun, LOL, and another set of 3 NOIDS in front. I also saw evidence of bunny damage, so I started putting down Repel All, and out came 4 baby rabbits that had been hiding under the coreopsis. They ran away squealing, I didn't know that rabbits had a voice. I have to say they were adorable, but would not have been so cute if they had nipped the bloom stalks off, which had happened last year.

So pretty Steve! Those yellow ones are absolutely vibrant! Can't wait to see more pictures of everyone's! Which ones do you all think are the most fragrant that you all have? I really want to get some more fragrant ones, so love to know which ones you all like the best!

Duluth, GA(Zone 7b)

Toronto that was planted a few weeks ago has put on some good growth. They've also got bud already, although they're very short.

skellogg, it's been my experience that the trumpet lilies are most pervasive for fragrance. From last summer-

What a pretty trumpet. I agree, They are the most scentastic.

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

Aww thanks everyone :-) Lily, I think the yellow ones are "London" and I also have "Dazzle" which is similar in color but taller and might be an LA, but don;t think those are open yet. Yellow does catch one's eye IMO better than most colors.

Hey Becky, a bloom is a bloom no matter how you get it!! I am not sure I have even seen lilies at my local nursery though I am sure Calloway's has them.

mstella, yes, you are correct, that is a peony bush :-) Normally that peony blooms in sync with the yellow lilies and they look really good together. This year, the lilies are just blooming now (slightly later by several days than last year) while the peonies bloomed in mid-April (about two weeks early!!) Go figure.

Skellog, there are so many fragrant ones....I think Silk Road (an OT) is probably my most fragrant and I can see mine in front this year already towering over the othes (even though nowhere near bloomtime) so it's going to be a good year for them. It usually blooms in June here.

Cem, your lilies are looking good!

Thanks Steve and Jack for the additional info. Wooohoo, Annette, yours are going to a be a show soon. BTW (by the way) those trumpet lilies are so pretty Jack.

Sundance, WY(Zone 3b)

I agree, great trumpets! So pretty! Thanks for the info everyone, guess I'll have to put lots of trumpets on my wish list, and a Silk Road, as well :-)

Duluth, GA(Zone 7b)

Steve, now I'm going to have to get some yellow lilies, yours are beautiful. I have color envy LOL. Jmorth, I love that trumpet, I'm going to have to also add that to my want list. Lili, hopefully we'll get the rain and cool down they're forecasting for this weekend, and maybe some open blooms.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Annette, it's getting cloudy here already. Is it there yet? I've got some orange ones about to burst open soon.

These are lilies planted this year in a window box, but there are other in containers planted in previous years.

These had already started to sprout quite a bit, and so I had to get them in as quickly as possible. Still thre are 2 black callas thrown in for effect.

This is the third year for these container grown lilies. They sit on our deck.

they are just planted in Rubbermaid tubs?? What do you do with them in the winter?

Stamford, CT(Zone 6b)

They sleep in place on the deck. We drilled lots of holes, so they have lots of drainage.

Duluth, GA(Zone 7b)

Lily, you're about to have some beautiful blooms. Our weather here was a little crazy this afternoon. Straight line winds made a absolute mess of the yard just after it had been mowed and blown. I was outside putting down pine straw when it all happened, and wondered if I was going to have to run for my life. We had a few drizzles then everything calmed down. We're supposed to get rain overnight and tomorrow. It will be welcome after the heat of this past week.

Divernon, IL(Zone 5b)

that's a nice rock wall Lily Love

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Thank you Jack, for the compliment. Annette, indeed the cool front is coming in and it feels like we're once again experiencing spring. Here comes the unknown Orange lilies;

Thanks cem :-)

Lily, yours look great. I have some new ones opening up every day and my daylilies have never had such tall scapes or so many buds on those. Really wonderful to see after a very mediocre daff season this year. May has been relatively cool with lots of rain.

Pretty, pretty. It has been a cool wet spring here too but the daffs and tulips were great this year. Any my daylilies are growing like crazy. The lilies here are looking fabulous but not budded yet.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Steve I love that orange with the Red tinge on the tips.

Duluth, GA(Zone 7b)

Finally, I have some lilies blooming. Here's my NOID orange lily, that was given to me several years ago by my SIL, and usually blooms right around Memorial Day in memory of her.

Here's another that I thought was Aurora Borealis, but is clearly the wrong color. It's the biggest it's ever been.

Thanks Lily, Rita. BTW both of you have beds that are looking great ;-) Rita's will be fabulous when they bloom.

Cem, ge, your beds are looking great :-) Cem, your brilliant orange lily is gorgeous. I love orange lilies like that.

Duluth, GA(Zone 7b)

Thanks Steve. The beds got pine straw today, and some of the lilies that haven't bloomed yet took a hit. I've got to stake some of them and see which ones weren't damaged. The guys putting down the pine straw clearly didn't care which plants they were ruining :-(.

Sundance, WY(Zone 3b)

Very pretty lilies everyone!

Divernon, IL(Zone 5b)

Lilies from Texas, Alabama, and Georgia - very nice.

Greenwood, IN(Zone 5b)

thanks jmorth & skellog - and Cem, I am at the point where I don't want anyone touching my garden but ME because everybody else always seems to jack it up, LOL

The LO's are budding out...this is one of my favorite classes. This is Triumphator. Ordered Silk Road from Wayside a few years ago and they sent me these by mistake; oh well I love them anyway.

"Gizmo" in the picture's center.....and Echinaceas....everywhere. They all seeded themselved and I didn't have the heart to pull them out.

"Brindisi" starting to open....it's an LA. Pretty but tends to fade easily. "Algarve" is much better but will bloom later.

Steve, looks like you are going to have lots of lily bloom. I like the coneflowers in there. I wouldn't have pulled them out either.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I have Brindisi.Long wait for blooms.

(Mary) Anchorage, AK(Zone 4b)

I hope my echinacea take off this year. Some have survived but don't seem to thrive in my garden. It would be great if they would self seed. My poppies surely do, and then I WS additional different types. they bloom for so long they provide constant color.

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

I like this garden section featuring Tall Bearded iris as it doesn't have just one thing. There are roses to the side and plenty of lilies off to the back. Some catmint in there also. I like my lilies mixed in amoung my other garden plants and I especially like lilies and roses together. The iris were an addition to this garden section last year along with more lilies for this area. I am really pleased with the result.
